How old is too old for a business computer?

For many offices, the answer is not a fixed birthday. A 4-year-old PC that is secure and reliable may still be fine. A 3-year-old laptop with repeated repairs, poor battery life, and unsupported software may already be costing more than it saves.

Our latest AllSector Technology blog explains what to review before deciding to repair, upgrade, or replace a business computer.

If your office has a Wi-Fi network called “Guest,” do you know what it can actually reach?

A different Wi-Fi name and password do not automatically mean visitors are separated from your business systems.

Guest devices should get internet access without being able to connect to your computers, servers, printers, cameras, or file storage.

Our latest AllSector Technology blog explains how guest network isolation works and what your IT provider should verify.

Thinking about canceling a cloud subscription?

Don't make the Cancel button your first step.

Email, files, customer records, shared folders, connected apps, automations, and even employee sign-ins can depend on that service. And every provider has different rules for access, retention, billing, and deletion.

We've put together a practical checklist for safely leaving a cloud service without leaving important business data behind.

Does everyone in your business really need administrator access on their computer?

Probably not—and leaving those permissions in place can make a malware infection or compromised account much more damaging.

Our latest AllSector Technology blog explains how standard user accounts, controlled software installation, and separate admin accounts can reduce risk without slowing employees down.

OneDrive or SharePoint - does it really matter where your employees save files?

It does when someone leaves, a team cannot find the latest version, a sharing link stops working, or important business documents are sitting inside one employee's personal storage.

The simple rule: OneDrive is primarily for individual work. SharePoint is for shared organizational content. Teams channel files are stored in SharePoint, while chat-shared files can be tied to the sender's OneDrive.

AllSector Technology's new guide explains how to organize Microsoft 365 files, improve offboarding, reduce duplicate documents, strengthen permissions, and build a cleaner information-governance strategy for Long Island businesses and nonprofits.

We’re looking for a few good techs — but probably not the kind who just want to press a button and repeat the same task all day.

We’re looking for the curious ones.

The people who take something apart just to understand how it works.

The technicians who see a repetitive process and immediately start wondering how it could be automated.

The late-night troubleshooters who have said, more than once:

“There has GOT to be an easier way to do this.”

At AllSector Technology, our team works across a wide range of technologies, and we want new team members who are excited by that exposure.

You’ll have opportunities to work with AI, automation, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud infrastructure, networking, compliance, business continuity, disaster recovery, scripting, MSP platforms, product testing, and technologies we’re actively developing ourselves.

You may also help us build and expand our Center4 Non-Profit offering, bringing better technology and security capabilities to organizations doing important work in their communities.

This isn’t a job where we expect you to already know everything.

It is a job where we expect you to want to learn.

You’ll work alongside a highly experienced team, get exposure to real-world environments, participate in projects and testing, contribute ideas, and have an opportunity to grow with a young company that is building something much bigger.

If you love technology, enjoy tinkering, ask too many questions, and genuinely get excited when you solve something difficult…

You might fit in very well here.

We’re hiring.

If Microsoft 365 went down for several hours tomorrow, would your employees know what to do?

Could they reach each other? Access the critical files they need? Contact customers? Tell the difference between a Microsoft outage and an internet problem?

Cloud services are extremely reliable, but they are not immune to outages. A simple continuity plan can keep a temporary technology problem from becoming a full business interruption.

AllSector Technology's new guide covers a one-page Microsoft 365 outage playbook, 10 steps to take during an incident, offline OneDrive/SharePoint access, internet redundancy, alternate communications, and special considerations for New York nonprofits.

AllSector Technology is looking for a Business Development & Account Manager to join our core team and help drive the next stage of our growth.

This is more than a traditional sales role. We’re looking for someone who can build relationships, develop new opportunities, grow existing accounts, and help us expand across managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity, projects, products, and strategic partnerships.

When did someone last check the security of your organization's website?

A site can keep working normally while outdated plugins, old administrator accounts, weak passwords, or unmonitored vulnerabilities quietly create risk.

Our new AllSector Technology guide covers 8 website security checks every business and nonprofit should review - including WordPress updates, MFA, backups, web firewalls, forms, domains, DNS, and administrator access.

If you are a Long Island or New York organization, your website should be part of your cybersecurity strategy - not an afterthought.
