🌽 Lucky Ladd Farms in Eagleville has its Fall Harvest Festival running through October 31st, complete with a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and this weekend they're even celebrating their resident albino raccoon's birthday. It's an easy drive from Murfreesboro or Smyrna and a great way to spend a crisp October Saturday outdoors with the kids. Just like any farm outing, a day around hay bales and open fields is a great way to pick up a stowaway spider or two without realizing it. 🕷️

Wacky Bug Wednesday: the spider everyone blames is almost never the one actually responsible.

🕷️ Despite the reputation, actual confirmed recluse bites are far rarer than people think, and most of what gets blamed on them turns out to be a skin infection or a different bug entirely. They earn the name honestly though, recluses are shy, nocturnal, and would much rather hide in an undisturbed box, closet, or garage corner than ever cross paths with you. The real identifier is a small violin-shaped marking on their back, which is easier to see in a photo than in person while you're backing away slowly. 🔦

🐀 Grab a flashlight and take a look at your soffit vents, roofline, and any spot where a utility line runs into the attic, gaps as small as a dime are enough for a mouse to squeeze through. Chewed insulation, dark rub marks along a beam, or small droppings are all signs something has already found its way up there. Hardware cloth over vent openings works far better than screen alone, since mice can chew through soft mesh in a matter of minutes. 🔦
