We talk a lot about how to start a business. We don't talk nearly enough about what it can require from the person starting it.

Entrepreneurship can affect your time.
Your money.
Your relationships.
Your confidence.
Your stress level.
And sometimes even the way you see yourself.

That's why Module 1 of Launch Your Small Business with Confidence doesn't begin with LLC paperwork. It begins with entrepreneurship itself. We talk about common myths, mindset and adaptability, personal and financial realities, stress, purpose, and goals.

Because registering a business is relatively easy. Building one while navigating everything else happening in your life is different.

If you're considering entrepreneurship—or you're already in it and realizing this is harder than it looked from the outside—Module 1 was created to help you think through that side of the journey too.

One of the most common ways new business owners set a price is surprisingly simple: They look at what everybody else is charging.

If competitors charge $50, maybe they charge $45. Or $50. Or $55.

But there is an important piece missing from that calculation: What does it cost you to provide the product or service?

Two businesses can sell something similar and have completely different costs. Your materials may cost more. Your labor may take longer. Your overhead may be higher. Your service may include things the competitor charges separately for.

Pricing isn't only a marketing decision. It's a financial decision.

Our Markup-Based Pricing Calculator helps you start with your cost and see how different markup percentages affect your selling price. t won't make every pricing decision for you. Market demand, positioning, value, competition, and strategy still matter.

But it gives you something every pricing conversation needs: A number grounded in something more than a guess.

Sometimes you need a workbook.
Sometimes you need a calculator.
And sometimes you need another set of eyes.

There is a point in building or leading an organization where the question changes from:

“How do I do this?”
to:
“Is what I'm doing actually working?”

That's harder to answer from the inside. You may have gotten used to a process that is inefficient. You may be pricing based on what feels reasonable instead of what the business requires. You may have programs that matter deeply but aren't financially sustainable. You may have a team structure that worked when you were smaller but is creating problems now. You may simply have several decisions in front of you and need someone to help you sort through them. That's where consulting becomes different from information.

At AMA Consulting Group, our role isn't simply to hand you another template. We help you look at what you're building, identify what's working, identify what isn't, and determine what needs to happen next.

“I want to start a business.”
That's a beginning. It isn't quite a business plan yet.

Before logos, business cards, websites, and announcements, there are some less exciting—but far more important—questions to answer.

- Who exactly are you serving?
- What problem are you solving for them?
- Are people already paying for something similar?
- Who else provides it?
- What will make your business different?
- What will it cost to get started?
- How will the business make money?
- And perhaps one of the most important questions:
- Does this idea still make sense after you examine it closely?

Those questions aren't meant to talk you out of starting. They're meant to help you build something stronger.

Our Launch Your Small Business with Confidence workbook walks aspiring entrepreneurs through those foundational decisions step by step. If your business idea has been living mostly in your head, this may be a good time to put it on paper and start testing it.

Through October 15, IGNITE Learning courses and digital products are 10% off with code CHALLENGE10.

“How much money do I need to start my business?”

It's one of the first questions a new entrepreneur asks. And “not that much” is rarely a good enough answer.

A website may cost money. So might licenses, equipment, software, insurance, inventory, professional services, deposits, marketing, supplies, and the expenses needed to keep the business operating before revenue becomes consistent.

The danger isn't that every business needs a huge amount of money to launch. It doesn't.

The danger is starting without understanding what your business will require. A $500 startup and a $15,000 startup require very different plans.

Our free Start-Up Cost Calculator helps you identify and organize those expenses so you can see a more realistic number before you begin spending.

There is a lot of information available for someone trying to start a business or nonprofit.

Sometimes, too much.

Search “how to start a business” and you'll find thousands of articles, videos, checklists, opinions, and people telling you what you absolutely must do.

That can create a different problem:

You have plenty of information, but you still don't know what to do next.

That is one of the reasons we created IGNITE Learning.

It was not built to give you more information to collect.

It was built to help you do the work.

Whether you're trying to determine what it will cost to start your business, put together a financial plan, understand basic Excel, think through your nonprofit idea, calculate a fundraising goal, or determine whether your pricing makes sense, the goal is to give you practical tools you can actually use.

And you don't have to use everything.

Start with the question you're trying to answer right now.

Then find the resource that helps you answer it.

That's what IGNITE Learning is here for.

Explore the IGNITE Learning Hub and begin where you are.
