When Todd Millar, CEO of HCG, started running his company on EOS, everything changed.

The stress? Gone.

The overwhelm? Gone.

The sense of chaos? Replaced with clarity and control.

With the stress out of the way, Todd finally had the time to build HGC Academy, a game-changing approach to developing leaders and creating a culture where work became fun again!

Here’s how EOS made it possible:
- They embraced Quarterly Rocks to set crystal-clear priorities.
- They held their team accountable through weekly meetings that actually worked.
- Most importantly, they turned learning and leadership into a structured process, making development a core part of their culture.

The result? A motivated team, a thriving business, and leadership that actually enjoys going to work.

If you’ve ever felt like work has become more of a grind than a passion, take a page out of Todd’s book. It’s time to build systems that bring back the joy and make your team unstoppable.

Want to reignite the fun in your company? Start by running your business on EOS. Send me a message to learn more!

In both business and the kitchen, there are two essential roles: the Visionary and the Integrator. Just like chefs and bakers, their strengths and approaches are very different, but equally crucial.

Visionaries are like chefs, thriving on creativity, flexibility, and bold innovation. They're the ones constantly dreaming up new ideas, taking risks, and pushing the boundaries.

Integrators, on the other hand, are like bakers, focused on precision, consistency, and flawless ex*****on. They take the Visionary’s bold ideas and turn them into tangible, scalable results.

When Visionaries and Integrators come together, the results are pure magic, what we call Rocket Fuel. This powerful combination of vision and ex*****on can elevate any organization to new heights.

In your business, who are you? The chef? Or the baker?

Check out what Jonathan B. Smith has to say about the dynamic duo here: https://www.eosworldwide.com/blog/are-you-a-chef-or-baker

Capitalizing on the Personal Core Focus of Visionaries and Integrators can lead a business to a Michelin Star level of greatness (aka Rocket Fuel™) regardless of your industry.

Is your team operating in their sweet spot?

According to the Yerkes-Dodson Law, as pressure increases, so does performance—up to a point. The challenge is finding the perfect balance between too little tension (leading to complacency) and too much (leading to overwhelm).

In EOS, we rely on tools like Quarterly Rocks, weekly To-Dos, and strong accountability to create the right level of positive tension. This helps teams stretch, grow, and achieve great things without burning out.

But tension alone won’t get you there. Providing the right coaching, feedback, and clear expectations ensures your team thrives under pressure instead of breaking.

When you balance both, you create a culture of peak performance and excellence.

So, ask yourself: Are you applying the right amount of positive tension in your business?

If you've been following me, you've probably heard me talk a lot about the Level 10 Meeting.

What’s a Level 10 Meeting (L10), and why is it a game changer for your business?

An L10 is more than just a meeting. It’s a structured, weekly check-in designed to keep your team aligned, accountable, and laser-focused on solving the right issues.

Here’s how it works:
👉 You gotta start on time and end on time. No more wasting hours in unproductive meetings.
👉 Review your Scorecard and ensure everyone is hitting their numbers.
👉 Solve real issues. IDS (Identify, Discuss, Solve) the real problems holding your business back.

L10s don't just force you to bring your problems out into the open; they help you solve them for good. Teams that run effective Level 10 Meetings consistently rate their meetings a "10" out of 10 for productivity, hence the name!

So, if your meetings aren’t moving the needle for your business, it’s time to rethink how you’re running them.

Scott Scarano is not your typical accounting firm owner.

With his flashy hats, silver chains, and larger-than-life persona, he looks more like a SoundCloud artist than a buttoned-up businessman. Yet behind the unconventional facade lies the real story of an entrepreneur who found purpose in the unlikeliest places.

In his teens, Scott was set on making it big in the entertainment and music industry. Then, he made some regrettable choices selling drugs in college. He was arrested and kicked out of college. His entertainment dreams were crushed, and the future looked bleak.

After cleaning up his act, Scott rebuilt his life using street smarts and hustle to work his way up at a small tax practice. Over time, he was able to purchase the firm and scale it into a profitable, million-dollar business.

Here's how the Entrepreneurial Operating System played a part in this story: https://www.goingconcern.com/from-felon-to-firm-owner-a-redemption-story/

Leadership isn’t just a title—it’s how you show up every day, the choices you make, and the energy you bring to your team.

Here are a few non-negotiable qualities every aspiring leader should embody.

In the culinary world, chefs and bakers have distinct approaches to creating food. Visionaries and Integrators can be viewed in much the same way.

Visionaries are idea-driven, adaptive, and thrive on flexibility, much like chefs. Integrators, on the other hand, are methodical, precise, and focused on ex*****on, qualities that define bakers.

Capitalizing on the Personal Core Focus of each can lead a business to a Michelin Star level of greatness (aka Rocket Fuel) regardless of your industry.

So, are you a chef or a baker? 🤔

The Yerkes-Dodson Law highlights a direct correlation between tension (T) and performance (P). Simply put, as tension increases, so does performance… to a point.

When there is no tension in an organization and not much is asked of people, there are lower levels of performance. As tension increases, through higher expectations of performance, so does performance, until that tipping point when performance begins to fall with too much tension.

In the EOS® framework, tension can come from a variety of sources: setting Quarterly Rocks, reviewing weekly to-dos, tracking progress on scorecards, hiring and firing around Core Values, and driving accountability through regular Level 10 Meetings.

These Tension Tools® are designed to set clear expectations and ensure that everyone on the team is aligned and focused on achieving the vision.

But here’s where Yerkes-Dodson offers a valuable insight: tension isn’t just something to be managed; it’s a tool for driving performance. When a team aligns with the company’s Core Values, Rocks, and measurable goals, they step up.

Here's Alex Freytag, Expert EOS Implementer, to explain more: https://www.eosworldwide.com/blog/creating-positive-tension-maximize-performance

The Yerkes-Dodson Law provides key insights into how leaders can optimize their teams by effectively creating tension to maximize performance within the organization.
