During a routine service, Christian opened this bait station to find rodents had been bringing in nesting material and making themselves a little too comfortable.

It’s a good reminder that bait stations don’t just help reduce rodent activity. They can also be used as a tool for the technicians to monitor the level of activity around the property to make adjustments to your protection program.

Safe to say, this tenant was NOT on the lease. 😂

As the colder seasons start approaching, don't wait until a full infestation moves in. Start your home protection early to get ahead of the problem.

There’s a whole lot of drama happening on one tiny leaf. 👀🌿

🐜 Ants protect them.
🐞 Ladybugs eat them.
🌱 And aphids are right in the middle of it all.

Aphids produce a sweet substance called honeydew that ants love, so ants will actually defend them from predators like ladybugs. It’s one of those little relationships happening in nature that’s easy to miss unless you know what to look for!

Sometimes the biggest rodent entry points are hiding in plain sight. 🐭🏠

Christian found this crawlspace vent opening covered by a rock, but right behind it was an easy access point straight into the crawlspace.

Rodents don’t need much room:
🐭 Mice can squeeze through openings as small as ¼ inch
🐀 Rats only need about ½ inch

Finding and properly securing these small entry points is one of the most important parts of keeping rodents out of your home.

That tiny gap might be hiding a whole lot more 👀🐝

When yellow jackets are consistently flying in and out of the same opening, it’s a good sign there may be an active nest hidden inside the structure.

And while sealing the hole might seem like an easy fix, trapping an active colony inside can create an even bigger problem.

The key is treating the activity first, then addressing the entry point once it’s safe to do so.

Just another reason to pay attention to where those yellow jackets are coming and going!

Bed bugs are experts at hiding, and the signs aren’t always as obvious as you’d think. 👀🛏️

Shed skins, dark spotting, and activity tucked deep into mattress seams, furniture, and tiny crevices can all point to a bed bug problem.

And while bites can raise suspicion, you don’t have to wait until you’re getting bitten to look for evidence.

Save this post so you know what to watch for, and if something doesn’t look right, give Guard Pest Control a call. We can help determine what’s actually going on.

We're back with another ✨Fun Facts with Richard✨ Part 2!

Bird feeders are great for bringing birds to the yard… but they can bring some unwanted visitors too. 👀

Seeds that spill onto the ground create an easy, reliable food source for mice and rats. When food is plentiful, rodent populations can grow quickly.

You don’t necessarily have to ditch the bird feeder! Keeping spilled seed cleaned up and storing extra birdseed in a sealed container can help make your yard a little less inviting to rodents. Exterior rodent bait stations help keep the population down and decrease the likelihood of rodents entering your home. Keep your home and family safe from pests with Guard Pest Control's protection program.

The before and after on this one says it all. 👀

Meet Ashley & Clifford 👋 They’re on-site for a cleanout at a unit that had been heavily soiled by 7 cats.

Cleanouts like this go beyond making a space look better. Removing waste, contaminated materials, old food, debris, and pest activity helps break the conditions that allow infestations to continue. Most importantly, it presents a chance for a fresh start.
