Today I was able to give another wonderful gift to an adoptee- her birth name and the name of her birth mother. At the very least, everyone deserves the right to know who they are! ❤️❤️

So, I’ve been looking for the birth family of a relative for many years. After the WV court system refused to open her adoption records (it amazes me that the government feels like they can rightfully deny someone the basic right to know who they are), we turned to DNA tests for clues.

After the Ancestry DNA test results came in, we had some surnames to give us an idea as to where to look. After a trip to the WV Archives searching birth records, I found her original birth certificate and the name of her biological mother. Within hours I was able to locate her living relatives and contact them through FB.

Her mother and most of her siblings had passed by the time I found them, and another passed after I was able to talk with him, but before we had confirmation. One of her sweet nieces agreed to do a DNA test to confirm the results and has helped me tremendously in finding missing pieces.

Last night she met blood relatives (that were not her own children, grandchildren or great grandchildren) for the first time ever, her nephew and great niece. Her family grew by three last night (and will hopefully be growing tremendously over the next few months) and it was a joy to be able to witness it!

DECATUR, GA - I have an adoptee looking for her birth mother. She was born August 31,1988 in Decatur, Ga at Dekalb Hospital. Her birth name may have been Michelle. Her attorney, Dally Rebecca P PC lost her adoption papers and she has no other information.

CHARLESTON, WV, AND WHEELING, WV AREAS - I am looking for a female born in Charleston, WV on January 2, 1980. This baby girl was bi-racial (black/white) and may have been adopted by a family in the Wheeling area. This is the only picture that the birth mother has of her.
