I DIDN’T 😇
Because you can’t change what you don’t measure.

You don’t have to track forever.

I still track but I already know what to eat to stay within my calories and hit my protein.

Because I built awareness first…

I didn’t:
❌ Give up the foods I enjoy
❌ Stop going out to restaurants or drinking beer
❌ Obsess over calories
❌ Or turn my life into a fitness competition

I built a system that works with my lifestyle.

And that’s the difference between:
Losing weight temporarily vs. Becoming the type of person who stays in shape

I lost 40 lbs in 6 months eating fast food, going out, and drinking alcohol.

Because I stopped guessing and started paying attention.

Most people don’t have a weight problem…
They have a system problem.

Awareness ➡️ Habits ➡️ Freedom

If I needed to lose 20 pounds, I wouldn’t start over, cut everything out, or try something extreme.
I’d go back to what actually works, and keep it simple. 🔑

First, I would create structure with my nutrition.🍽️
Not guessing, not estimating, not “eating healthy” and hoping it works. I’d track what I’m eating so I know exactly where I stand and can make adjustments based on data, not emotion.

Second, I would strength train 3–4 times per week. 💪
Not just to burn calories, but to build muscle, support my metabolism, and actually shape my body as I lose weight.

Third, I would increase daily movement. 👟
This doesn’t mean hours of cardio. It means staying active throughout the day, steps, movement, and optional cardio when it makes sense. This is where a lot of fat loss actually happens.

Fourth, I would hold myself accountable to the process. 🧠
Logging workouts, tracking progress, and making small weekly adjustments instead of guessing or starting over every time something feels off.

And lastly, I would focus on consistency over perfection. ⭐️
Because the people who get results aren’t doing everything perfectly, they’re doing the basics well, over and over again.
It’s not flashy, but that’s the point. This approach is simple, repeatable, and realistic, and that’s exactly why it works.

The top 3 mistakes I see:
1️⃣ Skipping strength training → Losing muscle, slowing metabolism
2️⃣ Eating too little → Energy crashes and slow results

Here’s something most people get wrong about fat loss:
They think cardio is the answer.

It doesn’t work that way.

Cardio can help, but it’s not the fastest or most efficient method.

Most business owners eat out constantly

(client lunches, networking dinners, travel, etc)

So the usual advice doesn’t work:
❌ Meal prep every meal
❌ Never eat processed food and seed oils
❌ Never eat at restaurants or fast food

That’s unrealistic when you’re building a business and grinding

Instead, you need to learn how to order correctly.

For example, at places like The Greene Turtle you can easily get:

✅ 40–60g protein
✅ Fiber from vegetables
✅ Controlled calories

Without grocery shopping, cooking, meal prep, or doing dishes…
so you can focus on your passion and the things that actually matter

Something I learned while losing 40 lbs in 6 months and as a business owner for almost 2 decades: You don’t need to become someone different to be successful.
Everyone inherently has what they need inside of them already.
You just need a system that brings it out of you that makes it easy, repeatable, and doable over a long time horizon.

Not another unrealized New Year’s Resolution 😞

January 27, 2023…

I thought this was the year that I was finally going to hit my fitness goal.

I was motivated. I commited to go to the gym. I was eating healthy.
