Humble brag, I have the coolest clients on planet earth..

Not one but two of my clients have opened bakeries from literal scratch and asked me for advice.

Another client sold everything she owned, moved her and her family across the country and just bought her first AirBnb and asked me for advice..

My other rockstar client just lived through a remodel and is opening her very own salon!

Another client - buying a building and needs me to forward over reports.

Another client is building her very own app to revolutionize her industry.

Clients are constantly growing and I am beyond honored to support them, be their sounding board, their safe place and their level head.

Watching my clients thrive, grow, pivot, adapt, over come - that is my greatest joy in this life.

Here’s the honest truth - I actually hate the advice to “start messy” 😬

But let’s get this straight - it’s not because I think you need a perfect offer, perfect Instagram feed or a 47-page business plan.. it’s because somewhere along the way people started hearing “start messy” and let it mean :

✨ Ignore your bookkeeping
✨ Don’t understand your pricing
✨ Mix business + personal money
✨ Skip the systems, protections and saving for taxes
✨ Take every client who will pay you

And THAT is not what starting messy is supposed to mean.

I want you to start before your branding is perfect, before you feel 100% confident.
I’ll cheer you on while you’re still figuring out exactly what your business will become but for the love of god.. build the damn foundation.

Let this be your sign, you need to invest in knowing what it costs you to operate and what you need to charge. It’s not optional to separate your money or understand your tax obligations. You’ll regret not taking the time to put basic systems in place or understanding whether the thing you’re selling actually makes you money.

Your business is allowed to evolve, it’s allowed to look a little messy while you figure s**t out. But don’t let that be an excuse to be reckless. I’m living truth you can absolutely build the plane while you’re flying it but I promise you won’t regret making sure you have the landing gear on board before you take off..

I swear I had every intention of getting some good content, I really did.. but the more I grow my business, the less interested I am in performing professionalism

I don’t want you to walk into a meeting with me feeling like you need to have it all figured out.

I promise I don’t have it all figured out either. Most days I feel like I live in the messy middle and that’s okay.

I want to show up as a real person who happens to be really fu***ng good at what she does.

Because I’ve realized that when I show up authentically, it gives the people I work with permission to do the same.

I want you to feel safe saying, “I have no idea what this means.” or, “I think I fu**ed this up.” And show me what’s actually going on in the business instead of giving me the polished version, because that is where we can actually do something.

I don’t think professionalism has to mean being buttoned up, perfectly polished, or emotionally removed.

You can be warm.
You can swear.
You can laugh.
You can admit you don’t know.
You can be a whole-ass human being.

And still be really fu***ng good at your job.

Actually, I think showing up that way makes more room for everyone else to be one too.

For me, I think sometimes we can get so caught up in the becoming that we forget about all the versions of ourselves that had to exist to get us here..

The version of you that started before you felt ready

The one who figured s**t out because they had to

The one who made mistakes, changed their mind, started over, learned the hard way and kept going anyway…

I used to think that success meant gaining everyone’s approval, now I know it means something much different

You can truly be anyone you want, why not be the person who makes all your dreams come true??

If you’ve been here for a while you know I’ll always keep it real with you guys and share the s**t storm reality behind small business ownership. I’ve shared with you what it is like from the trenches..

I’ve talked about spending thousands on systems you think will fix your business, but you keep doing the same s**t so you keep having the same problems. @ me

I’ve shared how staffing and employment has been a huge struggle of mine. Did you know my first year in business my employee was falsifying their time cards and stole hundreds of hours therefore thousands of dollars from me. I over drafted every week struggling to make payroll, maxed out credit cards and trashed my mental health. Since then I’ve had people add countless hours to my day because they actually don’t know how to bookkeep and I’ve had to redo multiple years worth of bookkeeping before clients noticed..

I struggle with my image. I don’t feel pretty, smart or capable more often than I’d like to admit. Every mistake digs that hole deeper and sometimes I feel like I’m in kindergarten, playing dress up in my mom’s closet.

I lean on my lawyer a lot and have had to use him to navigate a lot of nightmare situations. I pour so much into my clients so when it gets to that point it takes a giant toll on my mental health and I really tear myself apart.

Maybe some people won’t want to hire me after this, I guess that’s okay. My dream customers are the people who remember that people run small businesses, not robots. We make mistakes, have bad judgement sometimes, say the wrong thing, overlook something important, take on too much, and we learn as we go. That’s LIFE. This is your first time doing this… be gentle with yourself and remember - everyone is struggling, just some people hide it better than others

PSA : stop trying to sit at tables that you should’ve f*king flipped. Period.

But fr fr, here’s your reminder no one has any of this figured out, we’re all making it up as we go, but don’t you ever forget :

1. Things that look like from afar are pretty murky when you get closer

2. Burnout is not a badge of honor and being married to the grind is all fun and games until something bad happens because speed and chaos often go hand in hand

3. Things are going to feel awful literally 1/3 of the time, normal 1/3 of the time and amazing 1/3 of the time

4. If you have a 90% close rate you’re too cheap

5. If you give up because of a bad day, a bad customer or a bad experience : remember all the people who would’ve benefited from standing in your light, that will never get to experience it. Still wanna quit? Yeah me neither 🤍

Let’s talk about my favorite phrase “garbage in, equals garbage out”

And yes, I’m talking about your business.

You cannot expect clean books when you’re throwing random transactions into QuickBooks and hoping for the best.

You cannot expect your numbers to tell you what to do when you haven’t looked at them in six months.

You cannot expect a budget to work when you made it once, put it in a spreadsheet, and never looked at it again.

You cannot expect your business to give you clarity when you keep feeding it chaos.

At some point, loving your business means loving it enough to stop giving it garbage.

Give it clean information.
Give it systems that actually work.
Give it your attention before something becomes an emergency.
Give it decisions based on what’s actually happening — not what you hope is happening.

Because your business can only give you answers based on the information you give it.

And if you want better answers?

Start with better input.
