Clutter doesn’t just fill our homes — it fills our minds.

I recently gave myself a dose of my own medicine and cleared my office after months of buildup. The difference was instant. Calm returned, and I felt more creative and focused.

Our surroundings quietly shape how we feel. When we let go of what no longer serves us, we create space for peace, clarity, and purpose to move in.

If this resonates with you, I wrote more about it in my latest post. Read the full story here:

Even as a Professional Organizer, I’m not immune to clutter. This past year has been full — growing the business, training new team members, and supporting so many amazing clients through big transitions. Somewhere along the way, my own office started to feel…heavy. Piles of papers, files that...

Managing a move is like taking on a part-time job. There are so many moving parts, each part affecting the next one, and decisions needing to be made in a sequenced dance so that everything gets done on time.

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about moving? For a lot of our clients, it might be that they are feeling overwhelmed, chaotic, drowning, or their brain feels like it is shutting down because they have too much on their plate.

Even though it is something every single person will do in their lifetime, we are never “taught” how to move. It’s not something we learned in school. So, most people are simply “winging it”, making it up as they go in the hopes that they will feel settled and happy in their new space someday. This lack of skill or knowledge compounds the stress of the job at hand.

Check out the blog for 5 tips that can help you manage your next move with more ease.

The average US citizen moves 11.7 times in their life. Of course, this varies by age. In our younger years, people tend to move more frequently as they go through college and start their careers. As we get older, we tend to settle into one place for a longer period of time and lay down our roots. M

During the first week in January over the past several years, my husband and I usually have some time off work and have gravitated towards decluttering some of our mutual spaces together.

It usually starts when we take down our Christmas tree and decorations. But, after Christmas is put away, we tend to get the organizing itch. I always tell my clients that, once we get started on a project, the momentum will build and keep them motivated. This is exactly what happened to us this year!

Are you and your spouse on the same page when it comes to getting things organized on a timeline?

Read more about our process on the blog.

This past New Year's Eve, my husband and I set aside time to listen to each other talk about our hopes and desires for the new year. There is power in knowing what your partner sees as a priority in their life. We don’t set specific goals, but we dream about what is possible. This lights a spark i...

The garage is where we store all of our unmade decisions. Would you agree?

Once it’s out of sight it’s out of mind and we move on to the next thing.

When we collaborate with clients on garage storage, we think about it in three zones:

1. Daily Essentials Zone: Everyday items within arm's reach, like kids’ toys, dog food, and cleaning supplies

2. Seasonal Access Zone: Occasional treasures just a ladder away, like holiday decorations, camping gear, and paint supplies

3. Preservation Zone: Cherished memories in long-term storage, like keepsakes and meaningful mementos

The easier it is to access and store your stuff, the more likely you are to maintain the organized space.

I discovered minimalism nine years ago and started to declutter my life, as I do now with my clients every day. During this process, what I found value in really started to shift. When I really looked at it, so much of the physical stuff was not bringing value to my life.

What was becoming important to me was more human connection, spending time with people I loved, and having real conversations. In this process of self-discovery, and growing my brand and its purpose, I started to look at gift-giving in a whole different way. Essentially, giving people more STUFF was going against my personal and company values. Stuff was what my clients were struggling to get rid of!

Read about my solution for gift giving that’s focused on creating happy memories – and not unwanted clutter – in my blog post: How to Do The Holidays Like a Minimalist!

Drowning in tinsel and ornaments? If unpacking your holiday decorations feels more overwhelming than magical this year, you're not alone.

NOW is the perfect time to declutter your festive collection! Donation centers and resale shops are seeking holiday items to offer shoppers – and you’ll finally create some breathing room in your storage.

When deciding what to keep and what to pass on, these questions might be helpful:

When was the last time I used this?

Do I still love this piece?

Am I keeping this out of a sense of obligation?

Letting go of excess decorations doesn't mean letting go of the holiday spirit. It means making space for what truly brings you joy!

Consuming has become so easy and accessible. If you want a new sweater, you can probably order it online and have it within a few days. We get instant gratification at our fingertips!

Fast fashion continues to hit us over the head with “new trends” that we “must have”. We see it on social media on the daily – we are reminded of it almost anywhere we go, from the grocery store to the dry cleaners.

But, I see firsthand how mindless consumerism is affecting my client’s wellbeing. The overconsumption is causing clutter to build up because they have run out of room to fit what they own in their closet. The return piles are ever present, nagging at them (another thing on their to-do list), which just adds to the visual clutter in their home.

This clutter is causing anxiety and overwhelm because there is no process for letting go, only for letting in.

Check out the blog for some habit tools we encourage our clients to adopt in order to maintain a clutter-free space.

I was driving to a client's house recently for a decluttering session and was listening to NPR on the radio. They were discussing the amount of clothes the average person consumes in a year and how that has dramatically increased in the past 10 years. Consuming has become so easy and accessible. If

For the past year, I have been focusing a lot of attention on my health. A big part of this has been focused on building strength for the work I do – but also for my long-term health and quality of life.

It hasn’t been easy. When I started, I was starting at zero. I had a major surgery in 2023 and was determined to come back stronger after my three month recovery.

I tried several different workout programs. I was seeing progress but it was very slow …painfully slow at times. But I did not give up. And now I am seeing results! I feel stronger, I am building muscle, and I have learned to prioritize myself and my health.

You are probably wondering…what does this have to do with organizing?

What if you could build your organizing muscle just like you can your physical muscles?

Joseph Ferrari, Ph.D. Professor of Psychology at DePaul University talks about how “We are products of our learning environment - you're not born to be tidy or messy”. He says organizing can be a learned skill! Like anything new, it will take time, practice, dedication and guidance to learn how to be organized.

Getting organized has been shown to improve wellbeing and mental health. If you are dedicated to yourself and improving your own wellbeing, you can build new organizing muscles and learn new skills to live a more organized life.

The #1 thing we hear from our clients when they start to feel relief from their clutter is: “I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders”.

And just like with building physical strength, organizing skills require learning, guidance and support. You don’t have to do it alone.
