This fog-laden morning marked the beginning of the 2025 harvest at Moon Mountain Vineyard. Our vineyard crew began at first light, hand-harvesting Sauvignon Blanc from our Pisgah block.

Here's to a bountiful season ahead!

Decades before California stunned the world at the 1976 Judgement of Paris, a handful of visionary vintners were already exploring what was possible in the mountains above Sonoma.

One of these ambitious characters was an eccentric farmer by the name of Joe Miami. Joe was experimenting and perfecting mountain grape growing techniques, mentoring anybody who would listen, and helping nourish the grapes into great wines in dark cellars throughout the winter.

In the 1940s and ’50s, Joe Miami farmed the very slopes that would later become Moon Mountain Vineyard, pioneering mountain viticulture on the site that now serves as the foundation of Repris Wines.

The second photo shows Joe with his pet buck that followed him everywhere.

Thank you Audrey Frick for this thoughtful review of our newest release: 2021 E•S•P Cabernet Sauvignon:

"A more introspective and deep wine coming from the heritage blocks of the estate, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Moon Mountain Vineyard, E•S•P is not a wine produced every vintage (the same with Momtazee). It boasts a dark, inky purple color and is savory and deep on the nose, with notes of toasted rosemary, pine, blackcurrant, dark stones, and dark cocoa. Full-bodied, it expands on the palate with a plush texture, ripe tannins, an even, ripe feel, and savory earth coming through on the finish. It's a lovely wine to enjoy from 2027 to 2040."

Grape growing on the slopes of Moon Mountain dates back to the 1880s, when one of the region’s earliest pioneers, Emmanuel Goldstein, established the ranch that would eventually become home to Moon Mountain Vineyard.

The Goldstein Trail was Sonoma’s first road connecting to Napa and it still winds its way through our property today. Steep, narrow, and dramatic, the trail offers sweeping views, and on a clear day, you can spot the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline in the distance.

While Moon Mountain Vineyard is best known for its Bordeaux-style wines, we asked Executive Chef Miller McRae to create a dish that speaks to our Rhône-inspired wines.

▪️ 2023 Mélange Blanc
▪️ 2022 Mélange Rouge
▪️ 2022 Syrah

His wine-braised lamb shank, finished with our estate extra virgin olive oil, is a perfect match for these bold, expressive wines.
