P. Gagnon & Son – Supporting Firefighter Training Across New England

For more than two decades, P. Gagnon & Son has partnered with a York County firefighter certification program to provide hands-on propane emergency response training for Firefighter I and II candidates.
What began as a local training initiative has grown into three annual classes, including programs for York County firefighters and students from the Sanford Regional Vocational Center. This year, students from Augusta also traveled more than two hours to participate, highlighting the program's growing reputation and impact.

The training includes classroom instruction covering propane properties, leak mitigation, metering, and bobtail anatomy, followed by live-fire exercises using a specialized propane training prop developed from a damaged 320-gallon tank.

Special recognition goes to Rick Chute, Adam Leach, Todd Leach, and the many team members who help support these events, including driver Jim Collins. Their commitment to education and emergency preparedness is helping equip firefighters throughout New England with the knowledge and skills needed to respond safely to propane-related incidents.
