The Founder & The Force Multiplier

The Founder & The Force Multiplier We help leaders and their Force Multipliers achieve more together via actionable content, courses, and coaching. Welcome to our community!

The Founder & The Force Multiplier’s mission is to help Founders (Leaders, CEOs, Executives) and Force Multipliers (Executive Assistants, Chiefs of Staff, Personal Assistants, etc.) find their match, strengthen their relationship, and provide coaching, training, consulting, technology, and resources to help these partnerships continue to thrive. When Adam Hergenrother and Hallie Warner wrote The F

ounder & The Force Multiplier: How Entrepreneurs and Executive Assistants Achieve More Together, in February 2019, their focus was on the partnership between an entrepreneur and their right-hand employee (usually in the form of an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, or Chief of Staff). What we’ve realized over time is that the principles that we live by and value extend far beyond the scrappy early days of a start-up, all the way to the C-Suite of Fortune 100 companies. An effective strategic partnership is a powerful thing. Now we serve a growing community of C-Suite executives and Force Multipliers looking to grow their businesses and their careers, together. Grow with us by subscribing to our newsletter, tuning into our podcast, and joining our online community, complete with training, special events, and endless networking opportunities. NEW Language of Business Series Launching in June

Understanding the language of business is essential for the Force Multipliers of the future–whether you’re committed to a career as a right-hand partner or plan to move from employee to self-employed.

When someone understands the language of business, they can connect their work to: revenue, profitability, growth, efficiency, risk, priorities, customer experience, organizational goals, and strategic tradeoffs. We aren’t talking about memorizing corporate jargon here! But we are talking about understanding how businesses function, what leaders care about, how decisions get made, and how work impacts the bigger picture.

For the rest of the year, each newsletter issue will focus on one key area of business fluency: financial literacy, customers & sales, marketing & brand, strategy & decision making, operations, people & organizational dynamics, and leadership.

From articles and podcasts, to book recommendations, courses and conferences, and insights and advice, we’ll dive into one key topic each month.

Don’t worry… I’m sure I’ll still throw a few beach reads, fun documentaries, or my new caffeine of choice into the mix.

I’m excited for this new series!

Business fluency changes the way you see your role, your leadership potential, and the opportunities available to you. And who doesn’t want that!?

If you have a question or topic you want me to cover, please let me know!

Just scrolling, scrolling, scrolling through The Assist yesterday, like I do most mornings... and BAM! saw my name “in print”.

I’ll be even more excited when I see Enzo or Stella as the featured Pet of the Week. Yes, I have submitted them a time or two. 🐕 🐕

🔥 These are the type of free PR opportunities that can help you build your personal brand or your business brand!

The Assist reaches over 200,000 subscribers. Totally worth the 10 minutes of my time.

And for over a decade I applied the same principles to helping build my CEOs brand with very little (and often zero) financial investment.

BTW - I also got one of my entrepreneur clients featured on The Assist earlier this year.

There are SO many opportunities like this out there - take advantage of them!

I hope to see YOUR name in The Assist soon! 🤍

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

Remember, administration is a core business function. The work you are doing not only multiplies the impact of your Executive, but drives decisions, projects, and outcomes for the entire organization.

Many people earn a degree in Business Administration, yet there’s rarely a job title called “Business Administrator.” Instead, we see CEOs, Office Managers, Executive Assistants, Directors of Communication, Chiefs of Staff, Human Resource Managers, and more take on the responsibilities of business administration – roles that require strategic thinking, resource management, communication, and organizational leadership.

Force Multipliers live in this space every day. They support leaders in managing priorities, communicating vision, overseeing cross-functional work, and driving initiatives forward.

Administrative professionals align people, processes, and priorities so that leaders can lead, teams can thrive, and the company can scale. They manage the internal mechanics that keep the business running smoothly – from communication and planning to culture and strategy.

The work you do matters. Keep leading!

Last week we had a great discussion about “the passion tax” in our Bet On Yourself book club, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since…

In Bet On Yourself, Ann Hiatt writes about how her drive to be indispensable sometimes backfired. She took on so much that the quality of her work suffered, and so did she. She references Adam Grant’s idea of the “passion tax” — the reality that when you love your job, people are more willing to ask you to do extra work unpaid. Even work that’s outside your role. Even work that costs you sleep, time with family, or your own bandwidth.

And I’ve been there. You probably have been too.

It’s a bit of a paradox actually. We are taught to find work we love. Follow your passion. Do what lights you up. Build a career around what you care about. And then, once you do, that love can become the very thing that makes you easy to overextend.

And it gets even more complicated. Saying yes did accelerate things. It built skills faster. It built trust. It gave us access to rooms, relationships, and opportunities we wouldn’t have had otherwise. There’s a reason high-capacity people grow quickly… we’re willing to stretch and sacrifice.

But there is a line. You have to be aware of, and wary of, the passion tax.

Ambition can turn into obligation. Contribution can turn into resentment. And what starts as, “I get to do this,” can slowly become, “Why am I the only one doing this?”

I’m not saying don’t care or don’t go above and beyond. If I did, I would be extremely hypocritical. I don’t regret most of the seasons where I went all in. They shaped me and they built the foundation I still stand on.

But I do believe in awareness. Am I choosing this season of stretch on purpose? Does it align with my great career and life goals? And, most importantly, do I know when it’s time to say “no” and pull back?

I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic, so let’s chat in the comments! And I’ll leave you with these questions:

Where might you be paying a passion tax right now?

And is it a strategic investment you’re making on purpose… or a penalty you didn’t realize you agreed to?

When did being healthy become so complicated?

Over 100 years later and Kafka’s simple advice still rings true. Though, he could have just as easily been commenting on his daughter’s TikTok last week.

Sleep, walk, stay hydrated, lift some heavy stuff, eat whole foods.

Keep it simple. Have fun. Enjoy your life!
