Let's talk about hair slippage

Here is hair slippage in a nut shell..
- hair slippage is caused by bacterium
- bacteria growth is a result of (mainly)blood that soaks into the hair follicles, which then causes the epidermal layer of skin to lift. Resulting in the hair detaching and falling out.
- there is no remedy to reverse this effect once it has started.
-bacteria starts to grow once your animals heart stops
- warm temperatures amplify bacteria growth
- cool temps can help slow down bacteria growth, But will still continue to breed. Yes, even in your cold dark barn or in a butchers walk-in cooler!
- Freezing is the only way to stop bacteria growth, or of course tanning the cape.
- in most cases we won't know if slippage has taken place until after the tan.

The Tn VELVET SEASON IS UPON US!

Field care is very important.
Here are a few helpful tips.

TiPS:
1) Lay something between the truck bed and the deer and Velvet horns.
This keeps heat exposure down.
☀️

2) When field dressing, do not cut past breast bone. You can place ice in chest cavity only.
🧊

3) Do not pull on velvet horns or drag the deer. You can hold or pick up from the bases of velvet horns.
🦌

4) You must get your velvet harvest delivered to us or put in the Feezor soon as possible to prevent slipping of velvet and slipping of hair on your deer.
