I've been a huge proponent for citizen science over the years and one of my favorite platforms to participate is Zooniverse. After spending many years in Arizona, I'm also quite fond of the desert and the wide variety of flora and fauna that occupy the desert. The Sky Island Alliance has a couple projects on Zooniverse...so you can participate in their identification of desert mammals or birds.

If you aren't interested in the desert or wildlife...Zooniverse also have projects related to various aspects of anthropology and culture!

The Zooniverse is the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research.

A little holiday season astronomy- Dec. 21, the "Christmas Star" will be visible! It's believed that this celestial occurance is the basis for the inclusion of the "Christmas Star" in the story of the nativity.
