A huge thank you to all of the students, educators, organizers, and community members who came out to the Workforce in Motion event in Castleton yesterday!

It was great connecting with so many students, talking about careers in the trades, and showcasing the wide range of opportunities available right here in Vermont and at Hunter Excavating Inc.. From heavy equipment and trucking to paving, excavation, aggregates, forestry, mechanics, and beyond — the trades continue to offer rewarding, hands-on careers that help build and support our communities every day.

We loved seeing the enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement from everyone who stopped by our booth, took the Which Piece of Heavy Equipment are you Buzzfeed style quiz, checked out the equipment, and asked questions about the industry. The future workforce in Vermont is bright, and events like this play an important role in helping students explore career paths they may not have considered before.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We’re proud to support workforce development and continue bringing awareness to the incredible opportunities available in the skilled trades across Vermont. 🚜👷‍♂️🚧

Workforce in Motion (WIM) unites educators, employers, and community partners in Vermont’s Rutland Region to guide individuals from early career exploration through hands-on training and certification—particularly in high-demand fields like commercial driving (CDL) and construction—connecting graduates directly with employers and career opportunities in the trades.

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE AMERICAN LEGION FOR THIS EVENT TO HELP GREG!!

American Legion, Main Street, Ludlow, VT Friday February 17th from 5:30-7:00 will be hosting a Chicken and Biscuits Dinner for $15.00.

All proceeds will go to help GREG KOBAK in his recovery.

Hunter Excavating is fundraising on behalf of, our valued employee, Greg Kobak who recently had a major medical event.
Hunter worked on recruiting Greg to come work at Hunter Excavating for close to two years, as he was well known for his knowledge and diverse skills with heavy equipment and trucking. In June 2020 Greg decided to come aboard. Hunter vividly remembers Greg’s first day (training day). Greg was attentive to every detail, asked all the right questions. His energetic attitude to get to work to help the company grow was well noticed!!! From that day forward nothing changed, every day Greg showed up to work he gave it 100% with no deviation. Hunter and Greg’s relationship strengthened quickly with a mutual respect and desire to feel productive. Greg and his family hold a special place here at Hunter Excavating. A new position has already been created and we are looking forward to his return to work when he is ready.
Greg has lived in Vermont most of his life, making lifelong connections. He would do anything for his wife Karey, and two children Kendra and Sadie. He always made for a happy childhood full of jokes, laughter, and equipment rides. He is one of the most caring, kind people you will meet.
On January 26th Greg was taken to the hospital having a medical issue. He was later transported to Albany and underwent a double below the knee amputation. He has a long journey ahead that we are confident he will face head on and make his way back to health and independence!
Money raised will be used towards expenses not covered by insurance, help pay for the family’s daily expenses, renovating his home to meet his needs and an appropriate vehicle.
We will also be seeking volunteers to help with the renovation of his property before his return home.
If you would like to lend a hand to Greg and his family in offsetting these expenses, please contribute and share this page with others so they can help too.
