What if you could meet your financial goals and have the following?

- A culture where people want to be connected to fundraising and inspired to renew every year.

- 90% renewal of donors - you know the donors and each year interact authentically while building a committed community who understand the value of the mission and know they are valued as partners.

- Lower the need for donor acquisition to only when growing capacity is needed.

- As fundraiser you would manage a donor community (instead of a list of donors) as insiders giving them connection to the mission, its value to the community and how the organization's staff and leaders meet the mission goals.

This is possible with Mission Centered Fundraising.

Mission Centered Fundraising brings all participants together to serve a mission.

This allows the fundraising program will have greater clarity in its goals and operations. The key purpose of Mission Centered Fundraising is to raise more money with 90% donor renewal, which is equal to for-profits.

Research shows there are three things people want; to belong, to help, and have meaningful connections.

Fundraising can provide all three.

In my evolution of volunteer to professional fundraiser, I experienced the stronger focus on money. I had many training experiences including Madison Institute, AFP national meetings, and public broadcasting. The fun of sharing with donors the successes wasn’t important.

I began to experience my value as only the money I raised. In a meeting with the hospital president, he told the consultants that with them leaving he didn’t have any real fundraiser. Out in the hall the consultants asked me what the president was talking about. As a fundraiser, I was not really seen - only the money I raised.

All fundraisers have stories of donors who give small gifts annually and leave a significant planned gift.

An organization where I served as development director received an $84,000 planned gift, after the donor gave $20 annually for years.

Donors most often give from the heart and love for the mission.

As humans we are wired for meaningful connection and the desire to help. We make a gift wanting to feel connected, to create stronger communities, and to know when we helped do something that mattered.

What does it say about the donor’s experience when they chose to renew?
