Business park expansion in SSP.

This may sound like a boring road project, but it is a huge deal that was many years in the making.

South St. Paul just officially broke ground on the Verderosa Avenue Extension Project, the first new road in South St. Paul in decades.

The project will extend roadway and utilities south of I-494 and east of Hardman Avenue, opening up approximately 50 acres of prime industrial land in an outstanding location just off I-494.

Why does that matter?

Because this project is expected to significantly expand South St. Paul’s job base over the next five years, bringing good-paying jobs that can support families. It will also grow the tax base over time, which helps support our communities, schools, and local services.

This has been more than a decade in the making and is a great example of private and public partners working together, including city, county, state, and federal partners, in a nonpartisan way to get something important done.

Congratulations to the City of South St. Paul, its staff, contractors, community members, and all the federal, state, county, and local leaders who helped make this happen.

It is not every day a built-out community breaks ground on an effort like this. For South St. Paul, this one is a very big deal.
