A DTC founder recently asked how many warehouse staff they need to ship 1,000 orders a day. This shouldn't be the first question. The starting question is: how much capacity is already sitting unused in your current process? Most warehouses are leaving 15-25% of their throughput on the table. The unlock isn't always more headcount or more shelves. It's data-driven slotting, fast movers positioned where pickers spend the most time, dead inventory stops eating prime real estate, and every SKU location tracked in real time. Dense storage only works when the system knows what's in it and puts the right things in the right places. Let your systems find the capacity you already have.
