Managing the holidays can be a tricky time, with lots of travel, family and friends, and special events. Often, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the change in our routine vs feeling excited and present in what we are doing.
The most important thing to remember is that your child will not be ruined forever if they have one, two (or even more!) days out of routine. Manage your expectations so you don’t get overwhelmed in these tips:
1. Plan some good naps at home if you can. If you’re going to be out all day, bring a mini sleep environment (sound machine, safe sleep space, comfort items) and try for an on the go nap.
2. Plan travel around nap times! A car nap may not be ideal, but some sleep is better than none!
3. Bring pajamas and anything else you may need for bedtime for the ride home. It’s helpful to do a mini bedtime routine before you get in the car if you’ll be heading home late. That way you can transfer them to bed or crib with minimal effort!
4. GIVE YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILD GRACE. Let’s make grace the theme of this season. Life changes on a dime and we should be enjoying these moments, not punishing ourselves for them! From me to you, happy holidays 😘
