*** 2nd Question of the Day ***

While speaking with one of our contractor clients, they mentioned a peculiar situation involving an insured who recently purchased a property and has just sustained storm damages to their roof, but the insured was advised by their insurance company that the former property owner had a claim a few years ago and never replaced the roof at the time, so they will not consider any new damages to the roof at this time.

In your opinion, should the previous property owner's claim and choice to not replace their roof at the time have any relation to the current insured and the damages they've now sustained? How would you handle this type of predicament?

Question of the Day:

Should a *Contractor* document an insured's personal property/contents that were damaged by a loss and submit those to insurance on the insured's behalf with their estimate for the scope of repairs?

Or should this be separate from the work of the Contractor and instead be handled by the insured? Especially when bids and/or receipts are needed to show the actual and/or comparable cost of an item, should the Contractor be discussing?

I have my own personal thoughts and opinions regarding it, but what do you think?
