Member Spotlight: Underground Art, Inc. 🖤

Founded in 1993, Underground Art, Inc. was Memphis’ first custom tattoo studio. What began with owner Angela Russell, David Evans, and a few friends has grown into a lasting part of Memphis’ creative community.

Over the years, the shop has featured some of the city’s best artists, welcomed guest tattooers from around the world, and evolved into the woman-owned, safe, and inclusive space it is today.

Underground Art’s story is one of creativity, resilience, and community — made possible by every artist, family member, friend, and loyal client who has been part of the journey.

We’re proud to spotlight Underground Art, Inc. and celebrate their impact on Memphis.

Meet John D. Smith 💼 — a dedicated real estate attorney with 25+ years of experience and a passion for serving the community. As Treasurer of the MidSouth LGBT Chamber of Commerce, he plays a key role in supporting the Chamber’s mission and growth.

A proud University of Memphis alum, John earned his B.A. in 2005 and his J.D. in 2010. He loves helping clients secure and protect what matters most, while also building stronger connections through advocacy and community engagement.

We’re grateful for his leadership and heart for service! 🌈💙
