Wednesday Work-in-Progress: introducing our Osprey project, a substantial renovation to welcome multiple generations to this Shelter Island family home. ⁠

To address our clients' desire for flexibility, the renovation provides plentiful options for indoor/outdoor living. A new screen porch and pergola connect the main house with the guest wing. To expand the existing house, we're adding a generous living room with sunroom vibes. ⁠

For our Wunneweta project on Nassau Point, we gave a mid-19th century ranch a much-needed renovation. The exterior was updated with a modern materials palette of dark bronze windows, copper gutters and red cedar wall and roof shingles.⁠ A glassy entry foyer was added to connect the garage and primary bedroom wing to the rest of the house. ⁠

On a recent trip to Rome, K+dC partner Marina took a few photos of the Pantheon: the marble floor, created from materials sourced across the Roman empire: porphyry red stone from Egypt and pavonazzetto veined marble from Turkey. ⁠

The oculus in the Pantheon's roof is the sole natural light source for its interior. Like all good architecture, the opening frames a view (this time of the sky). ⁠
