Parting Baskets are special quartz glass trays that hold quartz thimbles.

The thimbles have "slots" in the bottom which allow acid to circulate.

Typically, the basket is submerged in dilute, warm, nitric acid for a defined period. After the samples can be rinsed by submerging the basket in DI water (or other rinsing solution).

Vessels and lids for the basket assembly are also available.

Parting baskets may also be used for annealing up to 1000C.

I learned to assay on one of these old BICO #40 assay furnaces. Amazing what good results you can get.
With Propane burner. Naturally aspirated (no blower needed).
Bottom chamber for crucible fusion. Holds 6 crucibles.
Top muffle chamber for cupellation, holds 12 or more cupels depending on size.
Includes Iron Stand and gas hose.
A well designed "old time" assay furnace. Produces excellent results.
Good condition. Refractory may need some minor patching.
