For many of our team members, aviation has been a passion of theirs for as long as they can remember, and that’s no different for Kris K., engineering manager II!

Starting with a fascination of watching aircraft fly overhead and leading to earning his pilot’s license before his driver’s license, Kris’ passion led him to A&P school, where he combined his mechanical aptitude with his love for aircraft.

“My enthusiasm for flying and aircraft have remained strong over the years,” he said. “My role at SNC is a chance to expand on that enthusiasm to work in the field I love, and there’s nothing more rewarding than combining cutting-edge technology with aviation innovation.”

As someone that loves to be up and about, Kris has a variety of hobbies that keep him busy outside of work, including cooking.

Kris and his wife are certified Kansas City Barbecue Society judges and are often found smoking a brisket or a few racks of ribs for their friends and family. Talk about a super cool ice-breaker fact!

Matthew R., mechanical engineer II, joined our BOLD program to develop his leadership skills and accelerate his technical and professional growth.

“One of the most valuable experiences I had was leading a capstone project focused on researching a multidisciplinary design optimization tool, which challenged me to grow as a technical contributor and as a leader,” he said. “It allowed me to collaborate directly with leadership and helped me build the confidence, perspective and relationships needed to take on bigger challenges in my role.”

Matthew is grateful that the BOLD program allowed him to work with team members across the enterprise and develop his skill set through exposure to other engineering disciplines.

Where you work is just as much about matching your skills as it is about matching the company’s culture, and for Forrest S., ASEP, systems engineer I, SNC was a perfect fit!

After being introduced to at a Penn State job fair, Forrest started his journey as an intern and recently transitioned to a full-time role last year.

“From day one of my internship, I felt supported by a network of mentors that genuinely wanted to see me succeed and 3 years later, I still keep in contact with people I met that first week,” he said. “My network only continues to grow and so does my development as an engineer. Not only do I have access to resources dedicated to advancing my career, but I’ve been exposed to countless aircraft and engineering topics that have bolstered my abilities.”

The development of our interns not only benefits our team but also the industry as a whole. We're honored that many of them choose to stay and start their full-time career with us!

August Is and we’re proud to feature participants in our BOLD program, a technical and leadership program for engineers!

Meet Naomi B., systems security engineer II, who joined the program to deepen her technical expertise and continue growing in her engineering career.

“BOLD allowed me to gain insights about different technologies and how they’re integrated across SNC,” she said. “I was able to do several rotations through different programs, which broadened my skill set and knowledge of the company. Thanks to BOLD and my mentor, I have confidence in what my future career as an engineer looks like.”

Naomi believes that the most rewarding thing about working at SNC is that she’s constantly learning something new, and she loves working with a team that is highly motivated, technically skilled and committed to helping each other succeed!
