Today was a very busy day for our Fire Department. We started out doing rural hitch/pumper training with District 1, Doyle from 0930 - 13:00 then we provided mutual aid to Van Buren County for a Motorhome fire on 111 northbound lanes.

The day was full of hands-on training culminating with some practical application on the fire scene.

Everyone made it home safe.

These are our neighbors dedicating their time to train and respond when the call comes.

Can you do that? Would you like to be one of our team members? Message us and we'll get you started.

Over the last few weeks all the Officers of the Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department Chief, {Bruce Sparks), Assistant Chief (Ed Baldwin), Captain, (Seth Price), and Lieutenant, (Seth Price) have been attending Hazardous Materials Training at the Rock Island Fire Department. This training will greatly enable our department to identify, mitigate, and prevent hazardous materials from causing harm to our communities, property, and environment.

If you pay close attention to the Pictures, you will also notice several other members of our White County, and Sparta City Fire Fighters. Thanks to all who have been attending.

A special thanks to Will Daniel of the Rock Island Fire Department for setting up and providing the training through the Tennessee Fire Academy.

Our members deserve a special thank you as well for taking the time out of their lives to take the training in the evenings and weekends.

What better way to spend your Sunday than to train on the use of SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in confined spaces.

This training is essential for our department to be ready to answer the call for people still inside a burning structure.

All this great gear adds about 75 pounds of additional weight to each firefighter.

Thank you to all our enthusiastic team for all the extra effort they put in to being prepared to take care of business when the moment calls for it.

Merry Christmas to all our neighbors.
Yesterday, Christmas Eve Day, our Hickory Valley Firefighters were training our next generation of firefighters in search techniques, escaping from a structure following the hose out in the correct direction, and the use of self contained breathing apparatus.
Special thanks to Pierce Brown, Dewayne Mace, and Zac Johnson for their expertise, and to our Junior Firefighters Dravin Margeson, and Cayden Mace.
