Prayers and comfort to the Guth family.
The Sparta Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of retired Chief of Police Jeff Guth.
Chief Guth devoted many years of service to the City of Sparta and to the officers of this department. During his career he led with integrity, dedication, and a deep commitment to protecting the community he loved. His leadership helped shape this department, and many of the officers serving today were influenced by his guidance, mentorship, and example.
Chief Guth was not only a respected leader but also a friend to many within our department and community. His legacy will continue to live on through the work of the men and women who carry on the mission of serving and protecting Sparta.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Guth family during this difficult time.
The Sparta Police Department will honor Chief Guth’s service by placing our badges in mourning.
