Hard skills get you the interview.

Soft skills get you the job.

Recruiting data shows that 92% of talent acquisition professionals value soft skills equally or more than hard skills (per LinkedIn's Global Talent Trends).

AND 89% of new hire failures are due to a lack of critical soft skills like active listening or reliability.

How are YOU showcasing your skills on your resume? Are they buried and not easy to find?

How are YOU building your skills?

Good News Friday!

A client got a job offer in a job-adjacent career!

They have been in an industry for over 10 years in a sales role. They were tired of the up-and-down nature of commission pay.

Finding a job adjacent to the industry and skills you already have is a great way to transition into a different career.

“An 80's Kung Fu movie.

Things coming at me from all sides.”

This is how a client recently described her work culture. Oooph! How terrible to work like this every day.

How would you describe the culture you work in?

"The Hunger Games."

That is how a coaching client recently described the culture at their office.

"Stabbing each other in the back to get ahead."

They couldn't trust anyone, including their boss.

Awful. And we all know this isn't how it should be.

What is the culture like in your office?

Need assistance getting out of your crazy work culture. DM me.

If you’re still wondering if you need a mentor or a coach, here’s a simple way to think about it:

👉 When you’re facing a tough decision, a mentor will share what they did in a similar situation. They’ll tell you what worked, what didn’t, and what they’d do differently.

👉 A coach won’t give you their answer. Instead, they’ll ask questions like: “What’s really important to you here? What are you afraid of? What would it look like if you trusted yourself on this?”

One gives you perspective from their experience. The other helps you access your own clarity.

What’s another way you explain the difference between the two?

It is ALWAYS worth a conversation.

Silence is a slow-motion career killer. 🤫📉

We tell ourselves, "it’s not a big deal" or "they won’t change anyway." But every time you skip a tough conversation, you trade a moment of discomfort for a mountain of resentment.

Whether it’s a missed deadline, a misunderstood tone, or a misaligned goal - it is always worth having the conversation. Even if the outcome isn't perfect, you gain two things:

1. Clarity (you know where you stand).

2. Integrity (you spoke your truth).

What conversation have you been "postponing" since Monday? This is your sign to have it.

What is the goal of the conversation?

I see this constantly in career coaching. We get so wrapped up in the unfairness of a situation that we walk into the boss’s office with a list of grievances but no clear "ask."

When you define the goal first, your tone changes. Your body language changes.

Your words become more surgical and less emotional.

You get your point across better. AND it is received better.

Is your goal to be right, or is your goal to be effective?
