What a week we have had here at RUS & Freedom Coatings. Summer is going to be busy for both of our companies, and we are grateful for our customers who put their trust in us, and for our leader and great visionary, Dan Cothran. ⁣⁣⠀

We didn’t want to kill them. So we called Robert Freeman (Freeman’s Honey Bee Removal, LLC) from Mountain Inn (864) 535-9526. He brought his grandson to rescue them and provide us with honey, lots of it… 🍯 🍯🍯⁣⁣⠀

Powder Coating is a 5 step process: ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
1. SURFACE PREPARATION⁣⁣⠀
A lot of companies skip this stage to save time, labor and resources. We don’t! Cleaning and degreasing, stripping, rinsing and drying, curing ensures a flawless and pristine, oil free surface. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
2. MASKING AND GROUNDING ⁣⁣⠀
Before spraying, we cover threads, bearing surfaces or areas that need to remain uncoated. The he powder gun charges the powder particles. To attract this powder, the metal part must be electrically grounded using clamps. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
3. POWDER APPLICATION⁣⁣⠀
As the dry powder is pushed through the gun by compressed air, it receives positive electrostatic charge. Spraying the part with even strokes. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
4.⠀CURING (BAKING) ⁣⁣⠀
The parts are placed into a curing oven where the powder melts and hardens creating a smooth and even layer. ⁣⁣⠀

5. COOLING & INSPECTION⁣⁣⠀
Once baked, the parts are removed from the oven and allowed to cool slowly until the finish sets. After cooling, our team members inspect the thickness and the quality of the finish product. ⁣⁣⠀
