We love that this dino gets to be something everyone can see and enjoy. Thank you for giving our dino skull a new home!

A huge thank-you to Jon Hartwig of Utopia Grove for donating this incredible ½-scale replica of the Wankel T. rex skull to Spencer Public Library!

The original T. rex was discovered in Montana in 1988, and its skull measures more than five feet long. Jon recreated it from a digital 3D scan, printing it in two pieces on an industrial-sized 3D printer. The project took more than nine days of print time and about 5 kg of material.

The original specimen now resides at the Smithsonian. Its slightly smaller cousin has apparently decided the library is a perfectly respectable place to spend the next 66 million years.

Thank you, Jon and Utopia Grove, for this spectacular addition to the library!
