Climate progress is showing up in practical places.

At the United Nations Climate Summit, new initiatives focused on electricity grids, early-warning protection and fairer critical-mineral value chains. IRENA also reports that the world added a record 692 gigawatts of renewable power capacity in 2025.

AI appears here in two very different roles. The WMO and ECMWF are comparing AI approaches to subseasonal weather forecasting. A separate set of demonstrations in Kenya, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo will test whether flexible computing demand can help support renewable mini-grids while community electricity needs remain the priority.

These developments are at different stages. Some systems already operate. Other programs have launched, and the AI mini-grid concept still needs independent testing. The carousel labels those differences so hopeful news stays honest.

Propaganda can make established climate science look uncertain through repetition, selective framing, misleading appeals to expertise and online amplification.

Research documents oil-industry support for climate skepticism and foundation-funded networks opposing climate policy. That history does not mean everyone in an industry is deceptive, or that every misleading post is coordinated.

Misinformation can be shared by people who believe it is true. Disinformation is spread deliberately to deceive. A false claim alone does not reveal someone's intent.
