CONTRACT SPOTLIGHT: Through the Travel, Tourism & Outdoor Recreation program, EDA is focused on accelerating the recovery of communities that rely on the travel, tourism and outdoor recreation sectors. $750 million of EDA’s American Rescue Plan funds are allocated to support the following efforts:
State Tourism Grants: $510 million in non-competitive awards to help states quickly invest in marketing, infrastructure, workforce and other projects to rejuvenate safe leisure, business and international travel.
Competitive Grants: $240 million to help communities that have been hardest hit by challenges facing the travel, tourism and outdoor recreation sectors to invest in infrastructure, workforce or other projects to support the recovery of the industry and economic resilience of the community in the future.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

CONTRACT SPOTLIGHT: COVID vaccine outreach efforts for BIPOC, underserved and rural communities ensures that our hardest-hit communities have the information and resources they need to get vaccinated. The COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Grant Program supports programing within the eastern Washington counties served by Innovia: Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln, Spokane, Adams, Whitman, Columbia, Garfield and Asotin and provide the following types of vaccine-related activities:

CONTRACT SPOTLIGHT: Through the Building Equitable Economies Fund, Empire Health Foundation (EHF) is engaging a diverse set of community-based organizations and small businesses from across the Eastern Washington region to develop the capacity to access American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. Specifically, we are interested in making catalytic investments to support community-identified strategies that show promise in attracting ARPA resources.

Applicants can request any amount from $2,000 to $20,000 for:
Facilitating community conversations to determine catalytic investments.
Develop grants, plans, and studies to attract resources to the hardest-hit BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and rural underserved communities.
Support the acquisition of real estate and other capital assets in Eastern Washington in and by these same hardest hit communities.
Support policy and advocacy activity to advance health equity and build an equitable economy that affords vitality and prosperity across communities.
The deadline to apply is September 30, 2021.

CONTRACT SPOTLIGHT: On August 12, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the launch of EDA’s STEM Talent Challenge to support programs to train science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) talent and fuel regional innovation economies across the nation.

This $2 million initiative will provide funding for work-and-learn programs to increase America’s STEM-capable workforce in emerging and transformative sectors such as space commerce, aeronautics, digital manufacturing, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and cybersecurity. Applicants may request up to $250,000 for implementation of a 24-month workforce program that complements their region’s innovation economy.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 12, 2021.
