Pioneer Stock Farms, aka Bryan Jones' farm, is a special place. I've been visiting the farm for 13 years now and have witnessed the creek's rejuvenation and learned a lot about all the hard work that goes into maintaining a small family farm, and the extra work it takes to maintain it with a conservation ethic. Bryan has always been committed and brave. He was one of the first wheat growers to step out publicly in support of dialogue with fishermen, to begin exploring common ground solutions to preserve both farming and fishing traditions, to explore options for removing the lower Snake River dams and keeping wheat going to market and salmon/steelhead in the river. Stay tuned on ways to help. Hope people can come together to support keeping this farm small, and ultimately turned into a conservation area. Please sign and share this petition to expand and protect Underhill Park in the heart of East Central. Developers are willing to sell private land, much loved and used next to Underhill Park. If this area is logged, leveled and roaded it will change the character of one of Spokane's oldest parks forever. Thank you!

Where else in the city is an acre of forested land next to one of Spokane's oldest parks proposed to be turned into houses? Underhill Park will never be the same. The city should work with Parks and the community to purchase this property, add to the park and save it for future generations. With all the infill and multi-family housing planned for East Central, the limited natural space we have is going to be ever more important for quality of life. Our neighborhood took a CSO tanka nd we are taking an freeway interchange bringing more concrete to East Central. The City should at least protect our natural areas that do exist. Call your City Council, call Parks, call the City. Let's buy this land.

The developers of the project, called the Ben Burr Estates, and the city of Spokane say it will bring new housing to a long underused area separate from the historic park. But some neighbors are calling for a pause, arguing the area is a natural headquarters for the South Hill's roving wild turkeys....
