The past few months have been exceptionally busy for our ServiceMaster by Compass team as we’ve worked tirelessly to help our communities recover from the devastating wildfires and other unexpected disasters.

While our social media activity may have slowed down, the dedication, hard work, and accomplishments of our incredible employees certainly haven’t!

A little piece of our history is becoming part of our future. 🤩

After the devastating fire at our main headquarters in May 2024, we’ve had the unique experience of doing what we do every day for our customers… recovering, rebuilding, and moving forward after a disaster.

Here’s Fred Anderson, owner of Compass Construction and ServiceMaster by Compass, hand-painting the OG compass imprint into the new concrete as Phase 2 of our rebuild continues.

There’s something pretty fitting about seeing our original compass permanently incorporated into the main entrance of our restored headquarters.

Phase 2 is taking shape, and we’re excited to keep moving forward! 💯

A strengthening nor’easter will bring coastal flooding, heavy rain, and wind to parts of the East Coast through the weekend. Wind gusts could reach 40 to 60 mph, while coastal areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain, with higher totals possible along the Jersey Shore, Long Island, and coastal New England. The greatest coastal flooding concern will be around high tides tonight and tomorrow morning.

We may be looking at the strongest El Niño on record. On September 19, the key Pacific monitoring region reached 3.05°C above average, breaking the previous record set in November 2015. And there are still three months of potential strengthening ahead. The Pacific is running at a dramatically different pace than the Atlantic this year. The Eastern Pacific has already produced 16 named storms, exceeding its full-season average of 15, while the strengthening El Niño is helping create an environment favorable for continued Pacific activity.

The average peak date of the Atlantic hurricane season between 2016 and 2025 was eight days later than the historical average. It remains to be seen if this pattern will continue, but 2026 is likely to be another backloaded season.

A weekend nor’easter could bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and more than 2 inches of rain across parts of New England Saturday and Sunday. Localized rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with a high-end potential near 6 inches in areas like Boston. Coastal flooding is also a concern, with the Norfolk-to-Nantucket corridor the main zone to watch.

Last month, ServiceMaster of Salem, Eugene, Corvallis, & Lincoln City was one of the sponsored holes at the Corporate Shoot Out and Ironman Golf Marathon for the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties.

Companies and restaurants from the area competed in 10 unique skills challenges ranging from putting, chipping, and driving that centered around a fun, spectator-friendly, festival. All with the goal of raising donations for children grades 1-12 in the local community.

After four days of evacuation, a homeowner asked us to inspect her property before deciding whether to file an insurance claim.

She hadn’t yet returned home and was understandably afraid of what she might find.

While walking the back lot, Sandra discovered a koi pond and called the owner.

“Would you like me to feed your fish?”

She had assumed they wouldn’t survive the wildfire conditions and fire retardant.

Instead, they were alive.
