One of the most powerful things landscape design can do is make a space feel larger than it actually is. 🏡

By creating distinct zones within a yard—a dining area, a lounging area, a quieter garden corner—you give people a reason to move through the space and experience it from multiple perspectives.

The transitions between those zones matter just as much as the zones themselves.

A change in material, a subtle grade shift, or a planting mass used as a soft divider can define a space without ever putting up a wall. 📐💙

As summer evenings start to cool down, a well-designed fire feature earns its place fast. 🔥

A fire pit or outdoor fireplace extends the life of an outdoor space well into fall, turning a patio that might otherwise sit empty into the spot everyone wants to gather around.

We design fire features as intentional focal points, not afterthoughts.

Some projects carry more weight than others. 🏡

PLACE has been working on the design for Meadowglen Park since 2024 and on July 22nd, we finally broke ground.

This is the Spokane Parks Department's first brand new park in 25 years.

More than that, this land has been envisioned as a park for over 40 years. Four decades of a community holding onto a vision and now it's becoming real.

We are incredibly proud to be the team that gets to bring it across the finish line.

Soon this space will give the surrounding community a healthy, safe, and beautiful place to play, gather, and recreate. That's exactly why we do this work. 💙🙌

We work on parks, commercial properties, civic spaces, and developments across the Inland Northwest. Places that are used by the broader community every day.

August has a way of slowing things down. ☀️

The days are long, the evenings are warm, and outdoor spaces are at peak use.

It's also one of the best times to take stock of what's working in your landscape and what you'd want to do differently next season.

We spend a lot of time in August walking finished projects and listening to how clients are actually living in the spaces we designed. That feedback shapes everything we do next. 🌿
