Women are an important part of the team that keeps Spring Grove moving.

Of our 768 employees, 117 are women, including 56 women working in hourly manufacturing roles and 61 in salaried positions.

From the mill floor to teams across the organization, their skill, experience and commitment contribute to the work we do every day.

During Women in Manufacturing Month, we’re proud to recognize the women of Pixelle and the role they play in the future of manufacturing.

Ideas have a way of lasting, especially when they’re written down.

For more than 160 years, the Spring Grove mill has been part of that story. Since beginning production in 1864, the mill has evolved alongside American papermaking, producing papers that help people communicate, share ideas, and preserve information.

Today, Pixelle continues that tradition through specialty papers.

People, innovation, and the enduring power of the written word.

September is National Literacy Month.

From books and journals to notes and printed information, paper helps ideas travel, knowledge grow and stories get shared.

At Pixelle, we’re proud to make paper that plays a part in those everyday moments — and to support education in the communities where we live and work.

Paper may be our product, but knowledge is one of its most meaningful possibilities.

09/11/2026

On September 11, we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and reflect on the strength and unity shown in the days that followed. Today and always, we remember.

09/07/2026

Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of the incredible professionals who shape and maintain our communities. Happy Labor Day from Pixelle!

Did you know?

The first paper mill in America was built in Pennsylvania in 1690.

That milestone helped make paper more accessible throughout the colonies and supported everything from books and newspapers to letters and learning materials.

As students prepare for another school year, it's a great reminder that paper has played an important role in education for centuries, and Pennsylvania has been part of that story from the very beginning.

Before laptops and tablets, there was paper.

America's first paper mill opened in Pennsylvania in 1690, laying the foundation for a product that would support education for generations.

From handwritten lessons to today's textbooks, notebooks, and classroom projects, paper has remained an essential part of learning.

This back-to-school season, we're celebrating the long history of paper and the Pennsylvania roots that helped shape it.

Pixelle has announced a pause in the planned closure of our Chillicothe, Ohio mill. In partnership with our ownership group and government leaders, we’re using this time to evaluate sustainable, long-term solutions for the facility and the dedicated workforce that powers it.

We’re deeply grateful to the employees, public officials, and community members who stepped forward with urgency and belief in what’s possible.

After a very careful and thorough evaluation and tremendous investment in the facility, we have made the difficult decision to close our mill in Chillicothe, Ohio. This decision was not made lightly, and we deeply appreciate the dedication of our employees and the support of our customers, suppliers, and the entire mill family. We understand this will impact the Chillicothe community, and our team is focused on providing necessary support to impacted employees.

A note from our president and CEO, Ross Bushnell:
“We value our Chillicothe team and the contributions they have made to Pixelle. Our priority now is to support our employees with care and transparency throughout this transition. We are committed to providing the resources and assistance they need while also ensuring no disruptions to our customers and seamless delivery of superior specialty paper solutions throughout this process.”

Today’s news does not impact operations at our other sites. Our teams are in communication with customers, and we are committed to delivering high-quality solutions while working through this transition.
