Over at 2305 E Kearney St., guests can pay a visit to the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks, which was founded in 1989. The place aims to restore, preserve, and display the military history and memorabilia of the Ozarks for the public. The museum is dedicated to the brave men and women that fought and died in the Armed Forces in order to protect and preserve the country’s freedom. It is also home to a collection of over 5,000 objects of military history, vintage military equipment such as the Cobra helicopter, Army Jeeps and trucks, and a T-33 jet aircraft. The visitors can have a hands-on experience at the museum through an imaginary flight in a Cobra helicopter, by having a personalized dog tag made, or by typing a message on a vintage Teletype machine. The museum also holds some special programs and field trips for students, as well as birthday parties. Other projects include restoration of old military equipment and Museum school, attending aircraft shows, and a program of history and science for young students, which was participated by more than 1,500 students during the previous year.
