Having lunch the other day with a couple true friends who are also Process Servers in my area. As we are discussing cases, we both get the same 2 emails each from 2 different companies requesting a quote. We both laugh and compare notes throwing our knowledge of each client out and then making our quotes.

The best thing is, mostly where I'd like to see our country at this time, we are competing businesses but love each other. We sat and discussed and both replied with our VERY similar quotes. I got one job because they didn't want to go to a certain area and neither of us got the other job. We then finished lunch, discussed where our days were taking us and made plans for the next lunch.

Isn't this how people should act? Damn people, let's get along and love one another.

Started my Friday serving a paper 2 doors down from a double homicide. My day was much better than at least 2 people.

Field Story:

Serving a paper on a guy for an eviction. No biggie. Arrive at his house and he is out front washing his orange in color car. I serve him and he seems a bit confused, upset, mad and uneasy. I departed.

I leave his house, drive about 2 miles and enter into a highway. It’s around noon and traffic is very heavy. I’ve been on the highway for a mile or two and I hear a horn honking. I’ve not done anything wrong and when I look in my mirrors I see nothing. Until I check my blind spot and see the orange car from the residence I just served. He has the papers in one hand waving them at me and appears to be frantic. He keeps pointing me to the shoulder and the farther we drive, the more it seems like he is forcing me into the shoulder with his vehicle. To keep from causing a pileup on the highway, I pull to the shoulder. I get out and approach his passenger side so if he is nuts, I have an escape that doesn’t cause me to be run over. He rolls his window down to tell me papers from another case had been stapled to his papers by the legal secretary and he wanted to make sure I got them back so I could serve the other person on a different case.

Yes, I s**t myself thinking I was going to be shot or something when he drove up on me, but not everything is as it appears I guess.

We have gotten lazy when it comes to social media so it's time to continue with stories from the field, calls from potential clients and just the craziness we deal with nearly daily.

We hope you enjoy.

Today's adventures....
A guy with a debt paper for over $13,000 wanted to explain that he has tried everything. Even went to get some help with the debt and was asked to write out his expenditures for the month and break them down to necessities and wants. He did. He's pi**ed because they said dog food was not a necessity. He believes it is a necessity because his dog protects his home from the democrats who want to take it. He went on for a while and finally said, "what's the point in fighting it, I have no money or anything other than my wife and dog. Side note, in the drive was a bass boat that had a cover over it, a Chevy Equinox, about a 2005-2010 Chev truck and a classic 70's truck with a nice paint job on it. But he has no way to pay his debt.

2nd story....

walked up to serve a debt paper and found a guy in his vehicle parked at the side of the house with the car door open. I walked up and he is just about to inject himself with a syringe. He freaked out when he saw me asking if I was the cops. I freaked out as I was in disbelief with what I saw. He then told me to go to the front door and knock, his mom would answer and that is who the papers are for. He asked me not to tell his mom what he was doing. A small side note, he was about 35 years old.

I thought that sharing some stories from the field might be of interest to many and possibly funny to others. So I will try to keep you all informed of the craziness of what we encounter.

Today was a pretty lame day. I had to serve a guy a subpoena. No biggie but he was the defendant which is a bit different because why request this guy to show up when he has already been summoned to court. In this case though, the Plaintiff's attorney was requesting records so it was necessary.

The guy that I was serving is a jailer for a county Sheriff's Department near my area, not Greene County. I'm talking to him and he is saying that he understands the subpoena and says they are requesting him to bring evidence and testify on the evidence. All trying to make me believe that he is being requested for expert type testimony. Funny thing is, HE is the defendant. Guess he wanted me to think he was an expert.

No nudity, no vicious dogs, no crazy people today. Let's hope for tomorrow.

While our industry is taking a big hit, like nearly all other industries, those that will weather the storm are the ones who have planned, who are committed and those that stay the course.

At IPS, LLC, we are weathering this storm and are still out conducting business by serving court documents, locating individuals and conducting investigations. We are prepared when the flood of papers begin coming in and are ready to take care of the needs at that time. Yes, we are anxious to restart where we left off with our clients and are hopeful that new ones will see that we are here for them.
