📣Big news! We're excited to introduce - Triton Ties - a new fiber-reinforced polymer composite tie product line for the rail industry! 🎉 We've worked hard to engineer a process and product that addresses the shortfalls of composites that went before us. This product has superior fatigue endurance and hits the sweet spot of performance and cost. A true one-for-one replacement for wood, Triton Ties will save billions of dollars over their lifetime when installed at scale. And because we are committed to using recycled plastic, Triton Ties will also create demand for massive quantities of scrap plastic, keeping it out of our landfills, waterways, and oceans. It's a triple win – performance, positive economics, and good for the planet.🌍 Visit www.tritonties.com.

Granite Peak Plastics announced the launch of Triton Ties to manufacture a new fiber-reinforced polymer composite tie product line.

Join us in celebrating Zemina Hozdic for her outstanding contributions to the Granite Peak Plastics team. Zemina has been with us for a rock-solid eight years, starting as a maintenance crew member and swiftly climbing the ranks to become a Flake Technician on our washline. And now, we're proud to announce her promotion to Lab Technician, where she plays a crucial role in ensuring that all production meets the highest quality standards and gets the proper labeling.

When Zemina isn't busy being an absolute rockstar at work, she loves nothing more than hitting the shops and hanging out with her adorable pup, Phoebe.

One of the things that makes Zemina truly exceptional is her unwavering enthusiasm to take on new responsibilities. She's a quick learner and someone we can always rely on. We are truly grateful for her dedication. Thank you, Zemina, for being such an asset to our team.

Check out the metamorphosis of slip sheet dunnage into high-quality repro pellets, ready to be used in new products. The raw slip sheets are fed into a single shaft shredder, blown into a hopper, then metered into the extruder. The now plasticized material passes through a continuous melt filter and pelletizer. The pellets are then dried and fed into a classifier to ensure proper sizing. Finally, the finished pellets are blended and packaged in super sacks for shipment to our customers. As leaders in plastic waste recycling, we take immense pride in delivering superior products daily.

We are seeing this issue firsthand. It’s time that commitments to circularity go beyond lofty, unmet goals. The consistent use of PCR, demonstrated by long-term contracts, is a responsible investment in sustainability. Our CEO Greg Janson wrote about the wide spec issue this past March. Read his column here https://www.granitepeakplastics.com/post/wide-spec-plastic

Recycled plastics prices are at their lowest levels in some time, putting significant strain on material processors. Meanwhile, some resin buyers are abandoning PCR to purchase virgin plastic instead. Continue Reading→

The beginning of turning post-consumer material into new products and packaging almost always starts with shredding and size reduction. Here, a rotary drum shredder chews up post-consumer polypropylene water softener bins. Watching this never gets old!

Granite Peak Plastics is not just another plastic recycler. Our vision is to enable circularity through the creation of massive demand. We are focused on applications where the positive properties of recycled plastic replace inferior materials such as wood, concrete and metal. Contact us today to learn more!

If product manufacturers and brands claim they are buying PCR for environmental reasons, but drop it when it is more expensive than other alternatives, they are in fact buying it solely on price. All other comments to the contrary are green washing. The practice of switching from recycled plastic to wide-spec resin is devastating to the growth and stability of plastic recycling.

Manufacturers of plastic products are ditching recycled plastic for cheaper virgin plastic that is being dumped on the market, destroying circularity. Thank you The Association of Plastic Recyclers for running Granite Peak Plastics President & CEO Greg Janson's article and raising awareness about this important topic.

The plastic recycling industry is facing a major challenge: wide-spec plastic. In this guest blog post by Greg Janson, you'll learn how using off-specification virgin plastics can reduce circularity and increase waste. https://plasticsrecycling.org/news-and-media/how-wide-spec-plastic-leads-to-less-circularity-and-more-waste

Thanks to Waste Dive for coverage of the panel discussion on the role of secondary sortation at last week’s Plastics Recycling Conference. As one of the panelists, Granite Peak Plastics President Greg Janson stressed that commitments to circularity are demonstrated by contracts for post-consumer plastic. For recovery to scale, we need reliable markets for post-consumer plastics, especially for colored PE and PP.
