Reads process drawings, charts and test procedures to verify proper operation of an individual circuit board assembly. Inspects soldered joints and components for proper placement. Connects the circuit board assembly to various pieces of test equipment, such as an in-house test fixture, power supply, multi-meter and oscilloscope. Calibrates, verifies function and measures performance to ensure compliance with specified tolerances. Troubleshoots and repairs units, to the component level, that fail the functional test. Provides written explanations of failures and corrective actions.
Job Specifications/Qualifications
Requires a 2 year degree from a technical school or junior college in the area of electronics technology and 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is important to qualify candidates as having component-level troubleshooting experience. All employees performing the functions of the Electronic Technician position will be required to complete in-house training through the ASPEQ Quality Control Department.
Technical Skills
Must be able to use small hand tools and electronic test equipment. Qualified candidates must have extensive knowledge and experience in working with high voltage and high current testing equipment. Must comprehend written information in process documents. Attention to detail, desire to provide a high level of quality and problem-solving are key skills.
Professional Skills
Oral and written communication must be effective. Must be willing to bring potential problems to the attention of the manager. Must work well with a variety of fellow employees.
Physical Requirements
Finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, near-vision and selective attention for working with small objects is critical. Must be able to work while sitting for long periods of time. At times will be required to lift packages up to 30 lbs.
