Is it recorded?
Yes! Virtual registrants get recordings of every session through December 16.

Can I attend whichever state sessions apply to me?
Yep. Virtual registration includes the federal update plus Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, and Florida. Join the sessions you need live and catch the others afterward.

Can I ask questions live?
Absolutely. Every session includes live Q&A with the presenting attorneys—so bring the question that’s been sitting on your desk.

What if the camera system you installed to prevent forklift accidents later became part of deciding who stays during a reduction in force?

It started as a safety tool. It worked. It also collected clean data on who was where, what they were doing, and for how long.

Then someone realized that data could be useful for another decision.
No one deliberately approved the shift. There was no meeting where leadership decided to turn a safety system into an employment decision tool. It happened one reasonable step at a time.

That’s where companies can get caught with AI: when a tool quietly moves beyond its original purpose and no one owns the decision.

In the latest This Week at Work, Phil Brandt and employment attorney Burt Garland talk through how AI is entering workplaces through cameras, monitoring systems, scheduling tools, and other technology that may never be labeled “HR tech”—but can absolutely affect people decisions.

“You’ll learn just as much from the collaboration as you will from the content.”

We say it in our classes all the time, and Principles of Leadership session going on right now shows a perfect example.

Get leaders from different companies and industries around a table, and the conversation gets good quickly: comparing approaches, swapping ideas and confirming that, yes, everyone has that workplace challenge.

It’s worth stepping away from the laptop, desk or floor for a while. The content is valuable. Getting to talk it through with people who understand the work makes it even better.
