Counsilman-Hunsaker provided aquatic design and engineering services for the Baltimore Ravens' Under Armour Performance Center. "The Castle" is the team's headquarters and elite training complex. The project delivered a new hydrotherapy and wellness suite as part of a ~20,000-square-foot renovation, purpose-built for professional athlete recovery and sports medicine integration.

Highlights include a 50-foot, two-lane lap pool with variable-depth lanes for aquatic therapy and low-impact conditioning, hot and cold plunge pools totaling over 650 sq. ft. for contrast hydrotherapy, and an integrated HydroWorx 2000 underwater treadmill.

In this hands-on role, you'll learn our design standards with a clear roadmap toward independently developing drawings for complex, major projects. Day to day, you'll produce detailed Revit models and CAD drawings, help prepare engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation, and work closely with our Project Managers to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to project specs. You'll also help refine our master toolbox, contribute to BIM implementation, and take part in our Improvement Process — plus dig into new materials, construction techniques, codes, and industry trends to keep our work cutting-edge.

🎯 What we're looking for:

Williston, ND is home to an exciting new community amenity — Williston Water World!

This new 2.3-acre Water Park offers a dynamic aquatic destination suitable for all ages and abilities. The facility includes a large multi-purpose pool with six 25-yard lap lanes for fitness swimming, a sun deck, zero-depth entry zones for accessibility, interactive water features for children, a lazy river, an on-demand obstacle course hanging above the lap lanes, and a variety of slides that encourage family fun. Shaded deck areas and ample deck space round out the amenities, giving Williston residents and visitors a safe, welcoming place to gather all summer long.

Designing a facility of this scale in Williston's extreme climate came with unique challenges, especially around winterization. The design and construction teams worked closely with the project's civil engineer to ensure all aquatic piping and infrastructure could be properly drained and protected during the off-season — safeguarding the pool's systems and extending the facility's longevity through North Dakota's long, harsh winters.

Cold plunges and ice baths are everywhere right now — wellness clubs, gyms, spas, even mainstream fitness centers. But until now, there's been no clear framework for how these venues should be designed, operated, and kept safe.

CMAHC just released new guidance to change that.

Developed by a committee of public health officials and aquatics industry experts (including our CEO Kevin Post), it covers water quality, disinfection, signage, and safe operation for cold-water venues — helping regulators and operators apply consistent standards to a fast-growing category of aquatic facility.

It's guidance, not a mandate — a practical tool for an area that didn't have one.

The 121,000 sq. ft. Ashburn Recreation and Community Center is anchored by an indoor 50-meter competition pool. The competition pool features ten primary lanes, twenty-one 25-yard cross-course lanes, three 1-meter springboards, a 6 ft. bulkhead, water polo capability, and stainless-steel gutters, making it a premier venue for competitive swim meets and local club and high school programs.

A second-level mezzanine provides elevated spectator viewing over both the competition and leisure pools.

The 3,000 sq. ft. leisure pool includes a 412-ft. lazy river, zero-depth entry, water volleyball and basketball, and assorted water features, while a 195 sq. ft. spa with hydrotherapy jets and a 2,730 sq. ft. outdoor sprayground with a unique concrete-and-stainless-steel waterfall feature round out the aquatics offerings.
