Peabody has commenced operations at a 5‑megawatt power station at its Centurion Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, converting waste mine gas into electricity. The facility puts Centurion on a pathway to meet site energy needs, delivers real system strength to the broader network and cuts emissions by approximately 62,500 tonnes annually.
Developed with Carbon Logica, the station is planned to scale up to 20-megawatts and is a critical component of Centurion's plan to minimise Scope 1 emissions.
