Interviews reveal what a candidate wants you to know, & resumes document what a candidate has done. Neither tells you how that person operates as a leader when conditions become difficult.

The four risks outlined in the graphic below are the ones we see most often in financial organizations. Leadership selection assessments exist to reduce these risks before the hire, not after.

This year’s featured speakers were Rachel Wallis Andreasson and Tracey Hughes of Wallis Companies, who have navigated the complexities of operating and growing a multigenerational family business firsthand.⁠

They talked about what actually happens when relational systems break down and growth outpaces governance; and how the strongest family businesses are ones that build trust and accountability with intention, not by assumption.⁠

What stuck with us? The problems most family businesses face aren't people problems, they’re system problems. And the time to build those systems is before you need them.⁠
