We're hiring a part-time Executive Assistant at Highest Good Performance — hybrid, based in South St. Louis County. This person will work behind the scenes of a growing leadership consulting and speaking business. It's 15 hours a week, one in-office day, and pays $22–$30/hr depending on experience.

We're not just looking for someone who can manage a calendar. We want someone who anticipates needs, takes initiative, and genuinely connects with purpose-driven work.

Thank you to the NHRA - St. Louis (National Human Resources Association) for the opportunity to facilitate the C.U.R.E. Mindset: Creating Inclusive Cultures lunch workshop recently. What a thoughtful, engaged, and genuinely delightful group of HR professionals.

I especially enjoyed the depth of conversation around questions that really matter in leadership:

👉 Do I need to work on my Push (tell) communication skills or my Pull (ask) skills?

👉 Who do I need to be more intentional about connecting with?

👉 And how strong am I really at active listening?

The C.U.R.E. Mindset—Connect, Understand, Respect, and Empathize—helps leaders intentionally create spaces where everyone is valued and everyone is heard. Exploring this framework with leaders who are committed to growth, engagement, and inclusive cultures was energizing and encouraging.

Thank you to Julie Kappen and Beth Roth, PHR for bringing me in, and to NHRA–St. Louis for hosting opportunities like this that invest in leadership development. I truly enjoyed facilitating this workshop. It would be a privilege to continue the journey alongside leaders like these who are so intentional about growth and engagement.

Assumptions Are Expensive — Clarity Is Free

Most workplace conflict isn’t about bad intent. It’s about missed expectations. I expected one thing from you, but got something different — or nothing at all.

I recently worked with a leader who was shocked when the team couldn’t articulate the top priorities of their project. The assumption was that because the priorities were in emails and posted on the wall, everyone had internalized them. The reality? People skim, forget, or focus only on what directly impacts them.

That’s how conflict is born. So how do you prevent this? Don’t hint—be clear kind, and direct.

Clarity is Power — it takes out the guesswork so people act with confidence.

Clear expectations reduce conflict, build trust, and turn tension into teamwork.

A few practical ways to keep expectations clear:

1️⃣ Repeat priorities at the start of meetings.

2️⃣ Be specific instead of vague (“I need this Friday at 4pm).

3️⃣ Don’t just hope the message landed — check to see if it was
actually heard and understood.

When you do these consistently, you give your team clarity, confidence, and direction — building a culture of Champions.
