Do you remember when Labor Day weekend meant the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon?

For decades, families across America turned on their televisions and watched Jerry Lewis ask us to believe that a few dollars could make a difference.

And America answered.

People called in donations. Children emptied piggy banks. Families gave what they could. Firefighters stood with boots in their hands.

Because behind every dollar was a family hoping for more time, more independence and, someday, a cure.

The television cameras eventually turned off.

The telethon ended.

But muscular dystrophy didn’t.

ALS didn’t.

And the families who need MDA didn’t disappear when the broadcast did.

Today, the way we give may look a little different, but the reason we give hasn’t changed.

This Labor Day weekend, we’re asking our community to help us continue a tradition generations before us helped build by filling our virtual boot.

You don’t have to be standing at an intersection. You don’t have to have cash in your pocket.

You just have to believe, like so many people did all those years ago, that your dollar could be the dollar.

The dollar that helps fund the next breakthrough.
The dollar that gives a family hope.
The dollar that helps someone live longer and more independently.
The dollar that changes everything.

One of the most meaningful and exciting nights of the football season is coming to Lindbergh High School! On Friday, September 11, our Flyer community will come together to recognize and thank the first responders, military members and veterans who serve and sacrifice for our community and country.

From performances by the 250-member Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, Cheer and Flyerettes, to the Patriot Guard Riders, Metro Air Support, BackStoppers Dash for Cash and postgame fireworks, this will be much more than a football game. You’ll want to get to Flyers Field early!

We are expecting a great crowd, and some of the biggest moments of the night will happen before kickoff. Don't wait until 7:00 to arrive! Get through the gates, grab something to eat and be in your seats by 6:28 PM as our special pregame experience begins.

5:30 PM — GATES OPEN
Come early, find your seats and enjoy the atmosphere at Flyers Field as we prepare for a special night.

6:28 PM — SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS MARCHING BAND
Our nearly 250-member Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band takes the field for a special pregame performance of its 2026 production, “Immortal Heart.” The Spirit of St. Louis is a four-time BOA Super Regional Finalist and three-time Rose Parade participant. You won't want to miss them kicking off the night!

6:40 PM — FIRST RESPONDERS & MILITARY RECOGNITION
We will recognize the first responders, active-duty military members and veterans joining us at Flyers Field and give the Lindbergh community an opportunity to show our appreciation for their service.

6:48 PM — PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS + FLYERS ENTRANCE
Get on your feet! The Missouri Patriot Guard Riders will help provide a special patriotic es**rt and entrance as our Lindbergh Flyers take the field!

6:50 PM — PRESENTATION OF COLORS & NATIONAL ANTHEM
The Missouri Patriot Guard Riders will participate in the Presentation of Colors, followed by the National Anthem performed by the Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band.

FOLLOWING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM — LOOK TO THE SKY!
We're not giving away everything just yet...But following the National Anthem, keep your eyes on the sky as Metro Air Support joins us for a very special delivery of the night's game ball! This will be one pregame moment you do not want to miss.

7:00 PM — KICKOFF
After an unforgettable pregame, it's time for football as your Lindbergh Flyers take on the Seckman Jaguars!

RED, WHITE & BLUE NIGHT
Let's fill Flyers Field with RED, WHITE AND BLUE! Students, families, alumni and community members are encouraged to wear patriotic colors as we show our appreciation for those who serve.

HONORING OUR FIRST RESPONDERS
Throughout the evening, we will recognize the police officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers and other first responders who work every day to keep our communities safe.

If you are a current or retired first responder, we hope you will join us at Flyers Field so the Lindbergh community can recognize you!

SALUTING OUR MILITARY & VETERANS
We will also recognize the men and women who currently serve or have previously served in the United States Armed Forces.

To our active-duty military members and veterans: thank you for your service, sacrifice and commitment to our country.

HALFTIME — CHEER, FLYERETTES, BAND & “DASH FOR CASH” FOR BACKSTOPPERS

Don't head to the concession stand too quickly at halftime! Following performances from Cheer, the Flyerettes and the Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, we're putting 90 seconds on the clock!

Members of Cheer, Flyerettes and the Lindbergh Schools Foundation Junior Board members will make their way through the stadium collecting donations for The BackStoppers.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking, stadium entry and finding seats. Tickets can be purchased online HERE Gates open at 5:30 PM, and our goal is to have Flyer Nation packed into the stands by 6:28 PM.

September 11 is a date that carries tremendous significance for our country. We look forward to bringing the Lindbergh community together for an evening of gratitude, remembrance, community and Flyer pride as we recognize those who have dedicated themselves to serving others.

This isn't a night to show up at kickoff.

🍎 Back to School! 🎒

The school year is underway, which means more buses, kids, and traffic on the roads. We’re proud to serve more than 20 schools in our area, and we want to help keep every student, family, and staff member safe.

A few quick reminders as everyone gets back into the routine:

🚌 Give school buses plenty of room, and stop when their lights and stop arms are extended.

🚗 Slow down in school zones, drop-off lines, and parking lots—children can move quickly and unexpectedly.

👀 Watch for children crossing the street and getting in and out of vehicles.

📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.

🏠 Make sure your children know their home address and how to call 911 if they ever need help.

A few extra seconds of caution can make a big difference. To all the students, teachers, and staff—have a safe and great school year!

Three people were injured in a house fire in Mehlville on Thursday morning, fire officials said.

🚨 When seconds count, preparation can make all the difference.

This month, our crews put their skills to the test during a realistic pediatric drowning scenario, working alongside our medical control team from Washington University in St. Louis Physicians.

Our Critical Care Paramedics and Fire/Medics focused on what matters most: safety, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking—the skills that can make a difference when a real emergency happens.

A huge thank you to our medical control team, community partners at The Y, and our crews for continuing to train at a high level and stay ready for whatever call comes next.

This cycle was a busy—and hot—one for our B Shift!

Crews started their 48-hour shift Friday morning with Mayday/Firefighter Down training, sharpening the skills needed to respond when one of our own is in trouble.

As the heat picked up Friday afternoon, crews responded to the first of three working fires they would face during the shift. Not long after returning from the first fire and getting the apparatus back together, the second working fire of the day was dispatched.

Crews did an incredible job quickly bringing the fire under control and preventing further damage to the residence. A big thank you to Affton Fire Protection District and Rock Hill Fire Department for their assistance!

Yesterday afternoon, crews were called to their third working fire of the shift, this time in Oakville.

These fires were in addition to the many other calls for service our crews handled throughout the 48-hour shift—all while working through some very hot conditions.

Most importantly, we are happy to report that no one was injured in any of the fires.

Outstanding work by everyone involved, and thank you to our neighboring departments for the teamwork and assistance!
