Workplace Violence in Home Care and Hospice:
A National Conversation with Disaster Preparedness/ Safety Expert Barbara Citarella.
IT IS TIME TO SPEAK UP AND OUT!!!
Recently a Connecticut home care nurse was murdered while conducting a home visit. Last December a nurse was shot during a home visit in the state of Washington. The frequency of violent assaults on home care workers is unknown, as the industry does not have statistical information on specific acts of violence. But we know home care workers are at risk every time they open a door.
We as an industry must do all we can to protect our workers. To review the current state of safety awareness and lay out a national strategy to strengthen those protections, we, along with the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts, will host an open discussion about workplace violence on Tuesday, November 28, 3:00 – 4:30 pm ET.
We want to have an open discussion about your concerns and needs to protect your workforce. Come prepared to share data, preferred tracking software and apps, education needs, staff concerns, and de-escalation strategies.
Protecting our workforce is our national shared responsibility.
