Tomorrow is getting as much as attention as a snowstorm! It looks like this will be a widespread event with severe and perhaps tornadic elements. The main question is the timing. For example, the NAM3K holds off the the line till around 6-7pm while the HRRR has it rolling through between 3 and 5.

So we will be tracking the timing, the radar and most importantly your reports. I checked almost every model and the bust potential seems lower than usual for a big Mid Atlantic severe event. There could also be some scattered storms in morning but the good stuff is for later in the afternoon or the evening.

the action will be quick but impactful and may end in some frozen

From temps in the 80s with tornado warnings near Baltimore to temps in the 30s with snow?! Yep... temps are set to drop nearly 50° today as a strong cold front pushes through. We may see some snowflakes mix in this afternoon as the cold front races eastward. No accumulation is expected but just WOW!

usually in these cases--the precip dries up before the cold arrives so we will see
my goal--just seeing flakes after 85 degree day would be wild. So no accumulation

There is a chance of an isolated brief storm this afternoon but overall...the models never really had any interest in a wide-spread severe event but we will check the radar.

Gotta love the GFS(until you need to use it for something useful)
