On July 4th, President Trump officially signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law, reshaping the landscape for domestic clean energy development.

While this new law is unlikely to stop clean energy deployment altogether, it’s a setback at a time when the US electric grid is already under significant strain from growing demand fueled by AI, data centers and electrification across industries.

Despite this less-than-ideal outcome for clean energy policy, Altus remains committed to delivering reliable, affordable power to businesses, institutions and communities. This moment reinforces the importance of thoughtful, long-term planning — and we’re proud to be leading from a position of strength.

As the U.S. Senate considers a sweeping tax package passed in late May by the House of Representatives, the U.S. solar industry is sounding the alarm over provisions that could severely undermine the industry’s rapid growth, at a time when both power demand and power prices are skyrocketing. We simply can’t stay silent.

Here at Altus Power, we welcome the opportunity to work with lawmakers to ensure that legislation is effective for all constituents. However, the proposed legislation would likely stall development across the country by abruptly eliminating critical tax incentives, imposing near-immediate construction deadlines and enforcing domestic content rules that the current U.S. supply chain can’t yet support.

This isn’t a tweak — it’s a wholesale policy reversal. If passed as written, the bill would disqualify shovel-ready projects, drive up energy costs and put tens of thousands of clean energy jobs at risk.

When you sign up, you’ll support the generation of clean power from our new 2.8 megawatt solar array — located on parking canopies at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s campus in Westchester county. This array is expected to save the carbon equivalent of burning more than 2.9 million pounds of coal or more than 4,700 barrels of oil as compared to utility power! Once this project is live and sending clean power to the Con Edison grid, subscribers will see a reduction on their annual energy costs.
