We just completed our final solar lighting project. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity we provided 6 solar streets in Canaan, Haiti. The location of the lights was decided by local residents and will help keep areas safe at night, encourage small businesses, and allow the children to read after dark.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed, supported, gave of their time and money to help Fifty Lanterns spread the light. Your faith in our mission to provide safe, clean, renewable light has changed lives and save lives. As we move forward closing Fifty Lanterns I want to thank Julie Fliflet our accountant who I couldn't have kept 50L going without her over these years. And then there is Marilyn Crawford our admin who kept me moving forward with gentle reminders and her positive spirit. I want to thank all the wonderful women who have served on our board for giving of their time and expertise. Barbara McAfee who with her Singing in the Light concerts/community sings supported 50 Lanterns programs like no other, she will have my heart forever. Rachel Whitcomb & Eric Hanson for being the best traveling solar installers in the world, they helped us to light schools in Ethiopia and Tanzania. I want to thank Martha Johnson Demos for starting Fifty Lanterns with me, her vision was instrumental in getting us moving in the right direction. And of course my wonderful husband Mike Gallagher and children Ryan Kapaun and Megan Cullen who I've put through a lot over the course of my travels and projects. Thank you for your understanding and love.Linda Cullen Gallagher
