I always appreciate hearing from business owners that acknowledge they need help. Most of us are too proud to take the step to ask for help but that is often the only way to get to the next level of success.

Most of us don't do certain things in our business because we're lazy, it's usually because we don't know what we don't know. I learned very early in my career as a business owner that having coaches and mentors are critical to growing our business. I was fortunate enough to run into Marty Wolff before I could screw things up too bad. He was a trusted advisor and helped me achieve far more than I could have done myself.

I like to think I can be that for contractors looking to take the next steps in their professional journey.

I'm excited to be able to present our State-of-the-Union Assessment report to a new contractor client tomorrow. After interviewing about 10 of their employees and doing a deep dive on financials, compensation, benefits, culture, etc., I provide a detailed analysis of the business. In addition to identifying strengths and weaknesses, I put together a cursory valuation of the business and income and value projections for upcoming years.

Finally, the report includes an implementation plan, designed to improve performance, develop leadership and get all hands on deck for growth and improved organizational health.

It's amazing the number of folks who own businesses, but have zero idea what their exit strategy should look like.
